I wonder if Montoya could take a step down to the Nationwide series like Elliott Sadler, Regan Smith, and Brain Vickers did to regain their footing, so to speak.

EDIT: Also, scrolling through my Facebook feed (I get more feed from NASCAR and other sports-related pages than my actual friends ), MRN posted a link that ws captioned "Cup ride not on Kyle Larson's radar". Go ahead end all Larson to Sprint Cup talk.

Apparently there was a rumor about Mark Martin being a co-driver of the 42 a la what he's been doing since 2007.

Wasn't his "retirement" eight seasons ago again?

Mark Martin: the Brett Favre of NASCAR :)

Michael McDowell and AJ Allmendinger were on the front row for the Nationwide series race at Mid-Ohio.

AJ will try to win his second race in his second start in the #22 Discount Tire Ford Mustang for his former boss, Roger Penske.

Allmendinger did make it two-for-two, winning the Children's Hospital 200 at Mid-Ohio.

1) AJ Allmendinger

2) Michael McDowell

3) Sam Hornish Jr.

4) Max Papis

5) Brian Vickers

6) Elliot Sadler

7) Marcos Ambrose

8) Justin Allgaier

9) Trevor Bayne

10) Jeremy Clements

According to Marty Smith of ESPN on NASCAR Now this morning, Austin Dillon is expected to race in one more race filling in for Stewart. Also, according to Smith, it is a RUMOR that Mark Martin will be the replacement driver for the other races which would put Brian Vickers in the 55 during that time (I assume).

I feel this could be a great choice if it does end up being true. Both Martin and Vickers did a descent job filling in for Hamlin in the early part of the season

EDIT: Final Results from Michigan:

1. Joey Logano

2. Kevin Harvick

3. Kurt Busch

4. Paul Menard

5. Clint Bowyer

6. Marcos Ambrose

7. Kasey Kahne

8. Jeff Burton

9. Greg Biffle

10. Carl Edwards

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Johnson clinched a spot in the Chase and I also believe Bowyer, Edwards, or both clinched as well. I was also hopin' Martin would have enough in the tank. Thoughts on the race? On to Thunder Valley; Bristol Motor Speedway!

Shocker of the day, Johnson finishing 40th due to malfunctions to his back up car, his curse in Michigan continues on. Bowyer, Stenhouse & Dillon all have better performances after wrecking. Onto Bristol for some good ol' night racing!

Remember Jeff Gordon's snakebite track was Texas. He managed to win after like the 17th or 18th try.

Fox Sports is reporting that Tony Stewart has offered Kurt Busch a chance to drive a 4th car.

My first thought was 'NO'. Kurt is a talented driver, but him and his brother are my least favorite drivers. Plus, this has to be an insult to Newman. He was released from his ride, and in the meantime, Stewart is expanding his team (apparently) with no replacement for Rocketman.

What do you guys think?

From various other media outlets, more specifically, NASCAR beat writers and observers, it's more Gene Haas that's made the offer, and not Tony. If KuBu does take a fourth Steward/Haas car, it will be fully sponsored by Haas' Haas/CNC business.

In case anyone else missed it, Brendan Gaughan made a funny over the weekend. During an interview, he called the owner of the South Point Casino, sponsoring his #51 Phoenix ride, a dick. Many of the assembled took a few moments to get it.

Brendan's dad owns the casino LOL

More proof that Austin Dillon is going to Sprint Cup next year... Via Jayski

Richard Childress Racing has partnered with D.G Yuengling & Son to be a primary sponsor on the #3 Yuengling Light Lager Chevrolet with driver Ty Dillon during the 2014 NASCAR Nationwide Series season. As part of their 185th anniversary of brewing great lager, America's oldest operating brewery will be the primary sponsor on the RCR Chevrolet Camaro for eight races of the 2014 schedule. Yuengling Light Lager will be a key partner as Dillon moves full time to the Nationwide Series next season.

This move kind of strengthens the rumors that Austin Dillon supposedly move up to the Sprint Cup Series in 2014, driving a car for Richard Childress Racing. Rumors have Childress bring back the #3 with Austin Dillon driving, either replacing Kevin Harvick in the #29 and changing to the #3 or as a fourth Cup team in 2014.

Good for mark to get that spot. I think he should do pretty good in that ride considering he was only a few laps from ending his 120+ winless drought at Michigan.

Also, regarding what rvrdgsfn said, I could see the team adding Newman to the 29 with Dillon in the 3. But will Childress move the owners points from the 29 to the 3, ensuring Dillon the first few races of the year and having Rocketman fend for himself, so to speak, or have enough confidence in his grandson to make the races on his own?

I can Childress doing that, because if Dillon drives the #3, it'd be the first time that number has seen Sprint Cup action since the 2001 Daytona 500, and I think it'd be good for the sport to have that number back.

It's just a number. I never understood the mythology behind it.
