Sport
https://twitter.com/...482556203532289Two year deal is good. Works for both sides. Two year deal, 11.5 million.http://bluejackets.n...vid=DL|CBJ|homeIt's a "prove yourself" contract. If the Vezina was a fluke then the Blue Jackets aren't strapped with another Steve Mason and they have time to find a replacement. If he's worthy then we'll be talking about a huge pay day in two years.

dwertman
I don't shed any tears over sending a 4th line PK specialist making $4M away.Yeah when you have guys like Morin and Pirri ready to move up..shaving roughly 6.5 mil off your payroll for 5 picks becomes a bit more tolerable Kings Cross AFC -BIP, Winnipeg Falcons - TNFF, St. Louis Archers - MLF

Alex Houston
Seems like Chicago is almost Pirates-esque when it comes to acquiring talent via trade or free agency, then developing them into Cup-caliber players and sending them away after they complete their goals. When you think about it, it seems kind of crazy in theory. Usually you would harness players for lengthy stays so your chances at repeating are improved, but hey, you can't argue with the results.Wish my team could've snagged Bowman. Also, what's the word on this Kennedy guy San Jose grabbed? Any of you Pens fans think he can do good things? I've read he has potential, but was lackluster this last postseason. We wouldn't have had to trade Byfuglien and Versteeg if Dale Tallon knew how arithmetic and fax machines worked. And Frolik was a pleasant luxury in a year where there was kind of a salary cap but sorta not really, but couldn't continue on a $64 million limit in his role and cap hit. They have ensured lengthy stays for a number of key players while cycling out complementary ones (or in Bolland's case, a core player who fell off a cliff), and in doing so have won two championships in the salary cap era, which no one else has done. The Pirates haven't had a winning season yet. So there. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

The_Admiral
If you're a Sharks fan as I suspect, they've certainly gotten the "lengthy stays for key players" part down, but their key players are about to turn 34, and uh ohhhh ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

Kramerica Industries
Now fans of the Isles and Mets can have internal debates about the fact that Bobby Bonilla and Rick DiPietro are dead money on those payrolls for a great many number of years to come. habsfan1
Question(s): So they are no longer hitting the team's salary cap, right? Now while they are getting paid by their former team, if they sign elsewhere starting from scratch (cap-wise), does this mean that they will receive 2 salaries? rams80
DiPietro is being bought out.Cheer up Rick. At least you will be remembered.Fake EDIT: From wikipedia-He was drafted first overall by the New York Islanders in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, out of Boston University, prompting them to trade Roberto Luongo. Islander GM Mike Milbury traded Luongo, so that he could draft the highly-touted goaltender known for his mobility and puck handling skills. Wow...he was ruining the Islanders before he even played a game. Props dude.
