Attend an EPL Game in all 20 cities (upcoming vacation next year)

If I were you I would try the 92, as Jaffa said in his earlier post. I am sorry but if I was you I would rather attend a game at the City Ground or Elland Road than Craven Cottage or Cardiff City Stadium, and I really hate Nottingham and Leeds.

To get a true feeling for English football you need to experience at least one game in each of the 4 divisions, and then you will see what it is really like, rather than just the 'EPL'. Try taking in a game at Gigg Lane in Bury, easily one of the worst grounds I've attended, yet the pie I had made up for it!

Cliché I know, but the best pie I've had was at Wigan.

My favourite away ground is Peterborough - partly because I've friends in the City who I meet up with for a pre-match pint, but also because you get the rare treat of standing on a proper old fashioned terrace.

Worst toilets I've encountered were probably at York City, although in fairness they'd nailed up a bit of perspex to act as a roof the last time I visited Bootham Crescent.

I have to say I like Peterborough, but have not experienced York City. I am a fan of old grounds don't get me wrong, but I think one of the best of the 'new era' is Pride Park, I have family who are Derby fans so I try to make an annual visit.

Derby is also the place of my most memorable and favourite away day I've ever experienced. The first game of this season just gone, promoted back to the Championship, in amongst 6,000 Wednesdayites and I remember Reda Johnson equalising after 90 minutes, it was incredible all 6,000 were bouncing and no word of a lie the stand we were in actually shook. I spoke to my Uncle after the game who was the Derby fan and he said they could feel it in their stand, I explained to him I thought the stand was going to collapse, but he said it's designed like that, sort of a shock absorber, and if it wouldn't have shook it would most likely not have lasted much longer.

I do love a good away day, it is what separates us from the rest of the world!

Derby is also the place of my most memorable and favourite away day I've ever experienced.

Our away trip to the Emirates back in 2008 was especially memorable - we'd spent the pre-season being told that we didn't deserve to be in the Premier League, and that we were an embarrassment to it with our mere presence. Staying up? We'd be damned lucky to even win a match.

In the end, we pulled off a famous upset and it was made all the more sweeter by the fact that my father-in-law and I were right at the edge of the city support, a mere six feet or so away from the Arsenal fans who had just been looking down their noses at us. Their faces were pictures, needless to say. Heh.

That's one off the bucket list. ;)

I'd like to catch a HR ball (it took me over 2 decades to get any MLB ball off the field during BP so I figure it'll take me 40 years to get an actual foul ball and I'll probably die catching a HR ball if I live to 100).

Serious question: You finally catch a home run ball, maybe even during a playoff or World Series clinching game for your favorite team. However, there's an adorable four-year-old in the row behind you, making puppy dog eyes, while his parents encourage him to hold his hands out.

Do you give the ball up? Probably not in a playoff game, but during a regular season game?

:censored: no on both counts. A 4 year old has plenty of time to get one on his own.

Bingo. Sorry kids, but both foul balls I've caught are on display at my house. Go get your own!

Reno Air Races (what's not to like about fly fast, fly low, turn left?)

reno2.jpg

Great choice. I grew up in the Reno area and have been several times. I actually lived really close to the Reno Stead Airport one year and it was a blast to watch from my balcony.

The crash in 2011 was absolutely frightening though. I had several friends I grew up with who got hurt while working that race.

I've had a lot of sports bucket list items. I forget all of them, but I totally have

-Visit all 30 MLB ballparks

-Visit all 30 NHL arenas

-Attend a professional championship sporting event

-Go to an Olympic or World Cup event

-Attend an EPL team's game (preferably at White Hart Lane but I'd be cool with doing a tour of all the major London clubs on a London vacation, hitting up a stadium each day [mainly WHL, Emirates, Stamford Bridge, Craven Cottage, and of course Wembley)

-See the Baseball Hall of Fame (oddly enough still haven't been there)

-Go to a US Open Semifinal or Championship Match

Same thread, different year but what the hell - here are some of mine...

In no particular order:

  • Daytona 500
  • Packers game at Lambeau
  • Ohio State - Michigan at the 'Shoe and The Big House
  • Auburn - Alabama
  • Night race at Bristol
  • Baseball game in St. Louis, Pittsburgh, LA, Anaheim, Seattle, SF, DC - All 30 would be great but I'll settle for those.
  • BCS Bowl game - preferably Rose or Orange
  • Bowl Game
  • Another Rangers game at MSG
  • Football game at Notre Dame
  • Hockey game in Toronto and Montreal

Re: Little kids and caught balls

If the player was throwing the ball to the little kid, I wouldn't try to intercept it. Also, if it landed right beside the kid and the parents were watching, I'd resist the urge to jump in and snatch it.

Otherwise, he/she can go :censored: themselves.

Things I can do:

  • Every MLB Park (I have 24 in, but that includes defunct, so I think I have about 12 to go)
  • A major title game (World Series clincher, NBA clincher, cup clincher, final four, super bowl...I do have NCAA hockey title game in)
  • A Rose Bowl (and my school's given me many chances...I am sure some day I'll be willing to eat the short-notice flight cost)
  • Every Big Ten football Stadium (I only have 5 in)
  • A MLB perfect game or no-hitter

Teams (In order of importance...I guess two of these are off my bucket list, but I still want to see them again)

  • Wisconsin Football National Title
  • Wisconsin Basketball National Title
  • Vikings Super Bowl Title
  • Twins World Series title (Would be above Vikings if I did not have 2 in my memory)
  • Wild Cup title
  • T-Wovles Title
  • Wisconsin hockey National Title (saw one in 2006)

Disclaimer: If this comment is about an NBA uniform from 2017-2018 or later, do not constitute a lack of acknowledgement of the corporate logo to mean anything other than "the corporate logo is terrible and makes the uniform significantly worse."

I've seen the White Sox win the World Series, which will be my most cherished sports memory for life. I've seen the Bulls win six titles and the Blackhawks win 1. I've seen the Illini play in the Final Four and got went to the Rose Bowl to watch them play (I don't remember the outcome of that game). I have been at a game where the Sox won the division. My list is as follows:

  • See the Bears win a Superbowl. I was too young to watch or understand in 1986.
  • See Illinois win a National Championship in basketball. I don't know when, but I think we'll get there someday.
  • See Illinois win a NC in football. Yeah, that one's a pipedream. I guess I'd settle for a Rose Bowl win.
  • Go to games at all 30 (or more at that time) major league parks. So far, I've only been to US Cellular, Comiskey Park and Wrigley.
  • Sit front row behind homeplate for a White Sox game. I mean, that one's pretty easy to do. I could just buy tickets, but they're around $300 a seat, and I'm really cheap.
  • See one of my teams win a championship in person (preferrably a World Series or college national title)
  • See Illini Football play in all the B1G stadiums (thusfar, I only have been to home games and at Iowa)
  • Go to the Baseball Hall of Fame. I plan to take a trip with my wife when Frank Thomas is inducted (which he should be on the first ballot, next year)

Other than that, it would be cool to go to a college football national championship game, or to go to a rivalry game between two powerhouses like Alabama/LSU, but I would never lament not doing so.
