2014 NFL Offseason

Gabbert can't even handle the AFC South defenses, and the AFC South has no defense whatsoever. Now he's going up against, in my opinion, three of the top ten defenses in the league if Kaepernick gets injured.

keep in mind he's just a backup... Kaepernick has no competition with him... hell he'll probably end up behind Colt McCoy or if McCoy leaves and Michael Vick comes in (reports of this happening) might as well cut him before he gets there...

Rumor has it that Darren McFadden is resigning with the Raiders... if that's false I look for Cleveland as well as Miami and New Orleans to be interested in him...

Hell I can see Josh McCown headed to Minnesota and Josh Freeman to the Giants.

McCown is basically all but a Buccaneer at this point if you ask me. It'd be an incredibly worthless signing, but Bucs just gotta Buc.

I can't wait to see how much they'll pay him. I respect the hell out of McCown and wish him well, but he's gonna get ridiculously overpaid.

he gives an opportunity to Glennon to push himself to prove he's a starter. It's actually not that bad of an idea for Tampa to sign him

Didn't Lovie basically give a "Glennon is NOT my quarterback" vibe at his opening press conference? Lovie Smith, you see, is a genius at recognizing a great QB talent.

McCown and Lovie are reunited, but didn't he look good under Trestman and not Lovie?

Correct. He also played with an incredible group of receivers and a revamped offensive line in an offense that catered perfectly to his skills.

Well, snark or not, I think everybody who watched Mike Glennon play QB last season at the NFL realized that he is nowhere near a starting-calibre QB. He was only given the reigns because of Schiano and, oh, well I already elaborated on how horrendous Schiano's regime was, why it's been eviscerated, and why the people running the operation now have no reason to lend any credence to the remnants left going forward.

McCown's going to get overpaid, of course he's going to get overpaid, and the Bucs are a great candidate to do that. Can't be worse than Mike Glennon, at least.

Multiple Twitter reports that the Broncos will sign Jared Allen. Might mean Philips is shown the door.

Also, Kuper officially retired today. Broncos now with 31 mil in cap space.

Also, Revis is on the trade block: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000332763/article/darrelle-revis-on-tampa-bay-buccaneers-trade-block

He may be released if they can't trade him. I wonder if this is where Denver comes in.

You guys can have that washed up money grabbing guy, the pats will take Byrd.

Well, that worked out, now didn't it?

Haha, that's rich. Byrd agrees to a deal with New... Orleans.

I'm happy with the Broncos getting Ward. Toughens up the defense a bit.

I feel like I'm going to be a big fan of the Alterraun Verner signing. That's a pretty good deal (4/$26.5M) for a well-regarded corner coming off an excellent season.

Crap. I wanted Verner in Denver, especially for that price. That's a good deal.

Yea, I was thinking that same thing. Now DRC is a must re-sign. Hopefully they can snag Revis after Tampa lets him go.

I am still a little upset about Beadles leaving, but, such is the way free agency goes. I also don't expect Decker to be back, and I really don't care.

Yeah, I agree that DRC is a must. I wouldn't mind Talib for the right price either.

I agree with you on Decker too. He was more of a luxury than anything. I think they can find a suitable replacement elsewhere.

From Adam Schefter's Facebook:

Adam Schefter

Filed to ESPN: San Francisco is trading a conditional draft pick to Miami for OT Jonathan Martin, per league sources.
Also, I'm indifferent on Ware or Allen. Depends on the prices again. I don't know what the best alternatives are, though.

I thought the Saints had next to no cap room so haven't followed the market at all this year. And now this?

If they're going to go all in while they have Brees, great. This is going to be the "golden age" for this franchise, so why not? I'm sure Jimmy Graham really appreciates the team throwing money at a FA, though. Both he and Sproles don't seem happy at all with how the front office have handled this off season.
