2014 NFL Offseason

I don't know how anyone can bet against a rematch of last years Super Bowl.

Those are my thoughts too, but I'm also thinking that the 49ers will make a good case to derail a Seahawks/Broncos matchup. Outside of perhaps the Patriots and maybe the Steelers, I don't see the Broncos having that much competition for the AFC.

As much as I hate to say it, the 49ers will probably sneak in...provided Kaepernick learns how to be a clutch QB. He came up small in the 2nd half of the NFC Championship game.

The times are a'changin' in New Orleans. The Saints released Darren Sproles and Lance Moore, Moore was the only remaining player from the Haslett era and the guy who saved Brees' bacon by making an amazing catch of that horrible 2-point conversion pass in SB 44,

Sproles was fantastic in 2011 but tailed off badly the last couple of years. Still sorry to see him go.

Meanwhile, Jimmy Graham - whose contract demands (he wants WR money) certainly aren't helping the team's cap position - tweeted that he's "shocked and disappointed" over the Saints' offseason moves. Well boo f'n hoo.

Don't get me wrong, I hate to see these guys go. Most have something left to contribute but it's the nature of the beast in the salary cap era.

Broncos guard Chris Kuper is retiring from the league. The Broncos are now 30 million plus under the cap.

Jason LaCanfora is reporting that a Broncos trade for Revis is "imminent" deal is said to be Revis for conditional third round pick that could become a second.

What the :censored:, Tampa?

Devin Hester won't be coming back to the Bears next season which I'm pretty happy about. Let someone else overpay someone who is strictly a return man after the whole WR experiment failed.

The Pats and Steelers? Don't make me laugh. SD and KC are Denver's biggest threats.

Apparently Revis got a good look at those new uniforms. :D

so the fact that the pats had a BUNCH of injuries to KEY players, means nothing??? please just remember that choke job payton pulled in foxboro. when mostly healthy the patriots could wipe the floor with the broncos. SD might not be as good this year and we will see if KC was a fluke or not. plus the Bengals, Ravens, Colts are quite good as well.

I'm not worried about either SD or KC. Well, I do see SD as a threat because they played the Broncos pretty well but I don't think they'll make the playoffs (as it stands right now, anyways... that can always change by the time the season starts). KC showed their true colors once they stopped playing backup QBs every week. I really don't understand where the Steelers as a threat comes from, though.

The biggest threats in my book are New England and Cincy -- regardless of Cincy's postseason issues.

Broncos had a BUNCH of KEY injuries as well. New England won that game because of the weather (Peyton can't throw well in high winds) and because Aqib Talib was able to manhandle Demaryius Thomas.

I think the Browns are gonna squeak into the playoffs with the fourth seed, winning the worst division in football. The Bengals are at an awkward stage where they have what could become, or looks like he may become, but won't become a franchise quarterback. He sucked against San Diego, and Houston when he led them to the playoffs. The Steelers and Ravens have nothing going for them, and I don't think the Browns are a playoff caliber team, but they are a quarterback(Bridgewater?) away from being the best of four terrible teams, in my opinion. Kansas City will get fifth seed again and tear Cleveland up on the Browns home turf, though. Then again, any failure is possible for Cleveland, even in the division they're in.

Funny you say that, because I literally JUST ordered a Revis Elite road jersey since the old set were so heavily discounted. This will be the third time I've ordered a Bucs jersey online and that particular player was cut or traded before the damn thing even got to my house. This doesn't happen with normal football teams.

As long as Brady and Beli are in New England, they will be a threat. If we can re-sign Talib and Edelman as well as gettng better on the O- and D-lines then we will be a very good team next year.

As a fellow Denver fan, I am curious as to where you got this info. I couldn't find it anywhere.

There is absolutely no way the Bucs would trade Revis for potentially a 3rd round.

The only speculation I have heard was from brainstorming radio hosts that felt the Bucs would only trade Revis for a 1st and 3rd, or more. There would be no logic in trading a healthy Revis when we just got done giving up a lot more for an injured version of himself. Cap room or not, it's a dumb decision and would never happen.

Ya, no. Saw it on a Massachusetts sports program. They cited LaCanfora.

Kuper retiring came from Twitter.

It's a new GM and a new coach. Since they're not the ones that signed him, maybe they don't agree with paying a corner $16 million and would rather let him go. They also probably have an eye on rebuilding, which makes paying Revis $16 million pretty silly. After all, they made that signing when they were a team that could be on the cusp of being pretty good and with a good who had shown flashes of being able to be their franchise QB. Now they're a team that isn't all that close.

No team in their right mind is going to give up a first and third rounder to take on such a cap hit, even for someone as talented as Revis -- certainly not ones that typically are pretty smart with their personnel decisions, like the two mentioned as possible destinations for Revis, Denver and New England.

Trust me, I wouldn't say we're all that far from being close to a playoff team. The 0-8 start to last season could've easily been 5-3. The only thing that held us back from winning even more games was the coaching staff. It's an new year for the Bucs and a new start. Revis is still a big part of this team and frankly, the only thing keeping us relevant. Trading him now would put us even farther back. We have holes, yes, but I have a feeling Licht and Lovie will fill a lot of these in Free Agency and the draft. They've been talking a lot about making some big signings already.
