This is like trying to talk to a brick wall

No one was expecting them to win a title except for the NY fans that think the largest payroll=championships

Some on the media said it would be a failure to not win a championship in Jeter ' s final season.
Probably the same people who said the same thing last year with mo retiring
I guess. Do you see The Yankees winning for the next decade because I see them doing it or else they may hire Lou Pinella or Tony La Russa

They will win one in the next decade. But the old ways of winning don't work anymore. You have to win by building your farm system. That needs to improve for them. So I think when they start bringing in younger talent, they will win again. However, they may go through a slump similar to that of the 1980s.

By the logic that's being thrown around here there should be a termination of 29 managers every year because every team is title or bust.

Seriously, knock it off.

I agree. People often forget that there is only one winner each year. Seems like an obvious thought but people let that slip from their minds.

The move, counter-move stuff with the A's and Tigers yesterday was unreal. For about five hours, I actually had Oakland sitting higher on the pecking order to reach the World Series than Detroit. The Price trade also shows that, unfortunately, Detroit WON'T be doubling down on Max Scherzer; he'll be allowed to walk in the off-season. I'm disappointed by this because I had legitimately morbid curiosity about the wreckage Verlander and Scherzer were going to leave Detroit in a few years after Scherzer's arm met a fiery, violent death.

Barring some really surprising shifts in the spectrum, it's going to be AL Central vs. AL East, and AL Wild Card vs. AL West. If either team is going to be knocked out in the first round, it would have to be the A's, but not because of their history, but because they will likely face a tougher opponent. I can't see the AL East winner beating the Tigers in a playoff series; I couldn't before the Price acquisition and I certainly can't see it happening now. There's a very good chance the A's, should the hold on to win the division (we forget that it's only a two game margin between them and Anaheim; fantastic season the Angels have been having) will be facing the Angels in the first round, and, frankly, Anaheim is a better team than any of what the AL East has to offer.

The AL pecking order has to look something like this now:

1. Detroit

1a. Oakland

--

3. Anaheim

--

4. Toronto

5. Baltimore

6. Seattle

7. New York

No one beneath #7 really has a legitimate playoff chance, as far as how I see it. Hell, if the Yankees can't get healthy returns from Pineda or Tanaka before the season ends, then stick the fork in them as well, because the sustainability factor doesn't exist when your #3 starter is David Phelps and you have Chris Capuano hogging innings in your rotation.

--

By the way, the last two seasons, everybody has had Boston pegged wrong. When they were ~#20 coming into the season, they won the World Series. When they were ~#3, their season is a tire fire. Lets all agree to rate them very highly going into 2015, please thanks bye.

why don´t the A´s and Rays have any money to spend on stars ? they get their share of MLB revenue, right ? . . :censored:ing bull :censored: !

Perhaps an examination of their attendance numbers would clear up some of the mystery.

Yea, the Cardinals-Brewers game doesn't look great now, but the Cards and Brewers will be fighting for the NL Central, along with the Pirates and the Reds, until September, in my opinion.

So the four teams within 5 games of the division lead, the four teams over .500 in the division, are going to fight for the NL Central....

Almost merits the "Amok Time" fight music.

Almost.

You never know. Whoever wins the NL Central will probably have 90+ games that they won.

I don't know about that. There's just so many times each of those teams can play the Cubs down the stretch...

I have.......but it does not matter anyway, there is a thing called team chemistry, the A´s have no star players, just a bunch of no-name dudes who are overachieving........i think they are shocked, "were are we gonna get runs from ?"

.

they are done, put a fork in them.

If they win the WS feel free to taunt me forever.

Yeah, I doubt team chemistry is going to be completely destroyed by losing a guy who still doesn't speak a lick of English.

And where are they gonna get runs from? Are you serious? You do realize that they have best run differential in baseball by about a mile, and with that rotation, they're barely gonna need any runs.

And, um, no star players? Brandon Moss, Josh Donaldson, Jon Lester (yeah, that guy), Jeff Samardjia, Derek Norris, Scott Kazmir, and Sean Dolittle all went to the All Star Game this year.

You haven't actually watched much baseball this season, have you?
