Made this right quick. We are overdue for a different design this season.

Don't hold your breath on getting a new design. The NFL is stubborn and doesn't want to hire anyone competent to design the field. This isn't a diss on your design just to be clear because this is clean. But I'm just saying remember that the Ginger hammer is still in charge.

  • pitt6pack changed the title to Super Bowl Field Database - Super Bowl LVII Concepts

We're down to the final 4, so it's time to take a look at the 4 possible fields, based on recent field history.

I think all these fields have some good color that will pop, although Bengals-Eagles has the least color of the bunch, and in my opinion, the least best of the bunch. I expect the Super Bowl logo will look great on the field though, if they keep it as large as last year. Lots of colors in this years logo, which should look great with the late afternoon sun.

-Glad the Eagles changed the wordmark. Super Bowl LII looked really awkward.

-Bengals make a great candidate for a helmet logo to avoid B Bengals.

-The 49ers helmet works because the SF logo is red and doesn't contrast enough with the red background of the end zone.

-I'm still not a fan of yellow Chiefs endzone when it is barely a trim color on their uniforms. Red with yellow lettering would work better I think. Unless......they also went to a helmet logo. Then, yellow background with red helmet logo works.

-The only team that doesn't work with the helmet type logo is the Eagles. I don't want to see a black end zone for them. The green doesn't contrast enough, like we saw in Super Bowl XXXIX.

Super Bowl Endzone concept system:
Logo Side: Primary team logo placed upon Primary Team Color/Helmet Color
Middle Striping: Pattern to match helmet/uniform striping on team's main uniform
Wordmark Side: Primary team wordmark placed on contrasting team color

May be an image of football
May be an image of football

May be an image of text that says 'SF 49ERS'
No photo description available.
May be an image of text that says 'EAGLES'
No photo description available.

I think we need to accept the fact that those aren't coming back. :(

Arizona has a roof and will probably be closed for the Super Bowl.

I suppose I should have said, late afternoon lighting, if the roof will be closed. Not sure if the roof was open or closed for Super Bowl XLII, but any bit of sunlight during the start of the game helps the field really pop.

Why? Why won't the NFL bring back the conference logos in the team endzones for the Super Bowl field art? How else do fans know which conference each team belongs to?

I just don't understand why there needs to be oversized team logos in the end zones. I wish the NFL would consider bringing back the teams' conference logos to the end zone field art for the Super Bowl field design.

The biggest problem with the current template is bad spacing and symmetry. We've seen okay-ish efforts in like Super Bowls LIV and LV and flat out disasters like LII and LIII, conference logos really help with symmetry and balance. Add colour as well and makes the game feel like an actual championship.  I hope we get to see them again.

I have stressed in the past that the fricking Super Bowl is..............the AFC versus the NFC!!! If you don't want to recognize that any longer, NFL, then just seed all the playoff teams 1 - 14 (or whatever) and get rid of the Conferences.

Conference logos NEED to be on the field somewhere, specifically the end zone!!

NFL is so stupid sometimes; i.e., fixing things that are not broke! Go back to the old end zone templates, please! Yeah right.

Here’s some of my Super Bowl field requests, pitt6pack

Chiefs vs Giants - Super Bowl XXVII

Chiefs vs Cowboys - Super Bowl VI
Chiefs vs Packers - Super Bowl XXX
Chiefs vs 49ers - Super Bowl XXXII
Chiefs vs Rams - Super Bowl XXXVIII

A good number of these requests are in the alternate Super Bowl fields thread here:

Some of the more recent years are in this thread as well.

I'm not going to do any requests right now, as I'm working on some of the old playoffs fields, working my way back from the late 90's at the moment.  Too many other things going on at the Gridiron Uniforms Database right now as well for me to have the time to fill requests.
