Minor League Hockey Shake-up...coming
JerseyJimmy replied to JackieMoon's topic in Sports In General
putting your AHL team in your own city is one of the lamest things ever. watch, they're gonna call them "Calgary Flames II" or something like a USL club. -

MLB Stadium Saga: Oakland/Tampa Bay/Southside
JerseyJimmy replied to So_Fla's topic in Sports In General
oh, believe me, I know they wouldn't. it's a fun thought experiment, though, especially as an alternative to a league having two LA teams.- 3,837 replies

MLB Stadium Saga: Oakland/Tampa Bay/Southside

yeah, I don't think contraction is happening in baseball. the only (non-MLS) situation in North America where I can see that happening is the Coyotes finally collapsing and an expansion team in (Quebec/Portland/Hamilton/>houston) taking their place. as for Oakland, this might be a weird take, but I just don't think it can justify being a major-league market anymore. the NYC and LA metro areas (ranked 1 and 2) can handle two teams in a sport, three if you count the Devils (which I don't). Chicago (ranked 3rd) only does it in one sport. the Bay Area fell to 13th place in 2021, behind - of all things - the Inland Empire. population's less than half of Chicagoland's. I don't really think it's going to work out much longer. y'know, speaking of, I wonder if the IE could sustain a major-league franchise...- 3,837 replies

personally, I'd like to see the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights come back. yes, I know they didn't draw well, but that identity was sweet. -
dude these concepts are nuts; Auburn's a big favorite of mine so far. also glad to see that South Carolina are implied to be back in the ACC, it feels like a much better fit.

you say this like I'm not on record calling Houston a "Reddit-tier city" and saying Quebec is where the Coyotes should be moving. actually, here's another one for the record: I want an NHL team in Halifax. -

being in Canada aside, I'm pretty sure the Saskatoon metro is smaller than most if not all ECHL markets, so that's one reason. also, turns out the Isles promoted Lane Lambert to head coach instead of going out and making some other boneheaded hire, which I honestly don't mind at all. -

well, yeah, the Lightning are everything wrong with hockey. >Florida (not only a sun belt team, but a tax haven team) >horrifically boring O6 dress-up uniforms >constant refpuck on their behalf >seemingly just get to ignore salary caps when they want to >insanely arrogant frontrunner fans >Florida -

am I the only Islanders fan who doesn't care about Tavares leaving? I think they got as far as they could revolving the entire franchise around him. -

as a proud LA Xtreme Jersey Owner I am very pleased, and I'm glad I wasn't the only one who caught the new logo's resemblance to a Norman helmet (which, huh, that's what that's called!). great stuff from perhaps my favorite era of graphic and jersey design.

damn, this is some really high-quality stuff. hoping there's actually a SC school in the big southeast conference in this series -
y'know, I'm willing to wager inaccurate NASCAR paint schemes count for this, so I might as well point out that in a lot of NASCAR games (at least the '00s EA Sports ones), some of the drivers' sponsors are censored for promoting products that wouldn't fly in an E-rated game (good examples being Dale Jr. and Rusty Wallace's Bud and Miller Lite schemes being reworked to just spell out their own names). the funniest one, though, is probably this one I discovered playing Thunder '04 a bit ago: they had to change Mark Martin's Viagra-sponsored car to Pfizer.

Players in the "wrong" uniforms

I'm sure this has been mentioned but it's especially weird remembering Nolan Ryan began his career as a Met considering he was a part of the '69 team. also, look at this picture of him, he is a child. -

big fan of Vegas' color scheme and that wordmark, but the circled number kind of looks like an afterthought and I think the jersey would be better off without it. also, that is really goddamn weird because in my own fictional baseball league, I had a Calgary expansion team that ended up moving to Vegas too.
