NIKE UNDERARMS!

Never realised how bad that looks, i always thought it did but now it looks so much worse lifting the cup

That picture is confusing in so many ways.

Very confusing to see the Islanders and the Stanley Cup in the same photograph. Hard to believe such an incompetently run team was once an unstoppable dynasty.

it's shocking to think if the bumbling, stumbling epic fail of a franchise was all that you know of the islanders. I fortunately am old enough to remember, vaguely, when they were at least half assed decent/respectable. it's still hard for me to grasp that they are working on 2 full scale decades of fail.

Being in my 40's now, as a child the Islanders were friggen unstoppable. The crazy part is they also could've, and in some cases like 1979 SHOULD'VE, won even more Stanley Cups. You could've made a case for them winning 6 or 7 had circumstances been different. That being said they won 4 straight Cups, made 5 straight Stanley Cup finals appearances, and had NINETEEN straight playoff series wins. That's mind-blowing.

Sadly outside of the run in 1993 and the brief awakening in 2002. they've been terrible since about 1987. The fact that they even still exist given their ownership circumstances since the 90's is somewhat amazing.

it's also interesting that none of those teams had secondary logos on their shoulders in that era.

Only Dallas does now, right?

Correct, though St. Louis does wear a shoulder patch on their alternate jerseys.

Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (CHL - 2018 Orr Cup Champions) Chicago Rivermen (UBA/WBL - 2014, 2015, 2017 Intercontinental Cup Champions)

King's Own Hexham FC (BIP - 2022 Saint's Cup Champions) Portland Explorers (EFL - Elite Bowl XIX Champions) Real San Diego (UPL) Red Bull Seattle (ULL - 2018, 2019, 2020 Gait Cup Champions) Vancouver Huskies (CL)

Interesting that the Flyers didn't have an anniversary patch, instead opting for the All-Star Game patch.

I saw some pics with an anniversary patch:

Duchesne_Steve.jpg

Maybe they switched patches after the All-Star Game? (This is the patch in this photo: http://www.sportslogos.net/logos/view/5923/Philadelphia_Flyers/1992/Anniversary_Logo)

They did. That 2nd pic is at the Spectrum, post All Star Game. Teams wore dark uniforms at home the 2nd half of that season.

I could easily see the Leafs just forgoing the All-Star game patch. In the grand scheme of things, that's not really a very important patch to wear.

As far as the 100/50 thing, I've wondered that for a long time. I've also wondered if the Stars would wear a 50th anniversary patch, or if their use of 10th and 20th anniversary patches, celebrating their time in dallas, would make them ignore the 50th anniversary of 1967 expansion.

I've had that date circled on my calendar since I was a teenager, in hopes of finally seeing the Dallas Stars in North Stars throwbacks. If it's going to happen, it's going to be that year.

Maybe the "Next Six" will get their own patch, that honors both dates, while the rest of the league will wear the same 100 year patch? Or maybe the 100 year patch will be thin and small like the "NHL 2000" patch, and be able to fit above the 50th patches and all-star patch, like the Stars and Devils did in the 2000 Finals.

I can provide some help here, the six new teams introduced by the NHL in 1967 were officially labeled the "Expansion Six", which seemed to pair nicely with the "Original Six". Not sure when the Stars will wear North Stars throwbacks, I think they made the right move holding off, since the Stars were establishing its own, crucial identity and bond with the city of Dallas. The Stanley Cup, and everything else, has been a part of that new beginning when the Dallas Stars were born. Dallas might end up wearing two patches, the one mandated by the NHL for the Expansion Six, and the more meaningful Dallas anniversary patch.

I think you literally cannot get a better example of the phrase "How the mighty have fallen" than the Islanders.

The Dallas Cowboys?

Admittedly, I don't follow the NFL, but the Cowboys' peaks don't seem to have been as high as the Isles' (I mean, NINETEEN straight playoff series won!), and their valleys don't seem to be as low (five winning seasons in the past 25 years, let alone the Milbury/Wang/Snow crap of the last fifteen).

The Dallas Cowboys?

The Dallas Cowboys are arguably the most popular team in their league, play in a brand new stadium, the biggest in the NFL, sell out every game. On the field, they are a .500 team.

The New York Islanders are arguably the least popular team in their league, play in the league's oldest and 2nd smallest arena, and are bottom 5 in attendance almost every year, and have ownership problems. And they haven't won a playoff series in 21 years.

Fair enough, but the Cowboys have fallen very far since their 1990s heyday.

Are the Canucks going to wear their Millionaire jerseys again? Also, I was wondering if anyone knew if any of the teams that played Outdoors are going to wear their Outdoor jerseys again?

The Islanders did it like 4 times now. The Rangers did once against the Islanders. Ottawa has been rumored to wear them again soon, such as the Kings. Pittsburgh said the won't wear their Stadium Series jersey anymore. And someone told that the Devils will wear them in their next game against Boston. Toronto wore their Winter Classic twice now.

That's all i know for now !

The Blackhawks definitely won't wear theirs again.

It's so similar to their former/rumored soon to be brought back to life black jersey that they will definately burry their Stadium jersey deep in to the ground and take the real black one

The Kings will next year wear the yellow 1967 uniforms for their Legends nights. I for one am excited, another jersey to add to the collection.

Please no.. the Kings are not the Lakers, just the purple jersey looked fine but not a yellow one.

Also, i saw this in the comments from the link. Tought it might be a great look for the KIngs in the future. A modern look with a vintage touch

You are correct they aren't the Lakers. The Kings know how to win!

tell that to the lakers rings

Those rings don't matter. Stop living in the past. Are those rings doing anything for them now? Didn't think so. It's a franchise that sucks and is lost. The Lakers are no different than the Raiders, Edmonton Oilers, or New York Islanders, they all have past championships and straight out suck, and it's all ownerships fault.

Thanks for answering!!! :D Ottawa is actually wearing theirs for their game against the Habs today. It sucks that Pittsburgh isn't going to wear their Stadium Series look at least one more time. It's nothing special but nevertheless, it is miles better than their current jerseys in my opinion and the chrome logo brings the shine to the Vegas Gold color again. I also think it is one of the better S.S. looks. As for Chicago and Anaheim, as much as I really disliked their Stadium Series jerseys, I think it would be nice to see both teams wear them at least one more time so that we get to see them indoors and so that fans who actually bought them get to enjoy them on the ice one more time.

You are forgetting that the lakers are the second most successful team in the NBA behind boston, that's like saying the Yankees, or steelers, or who ever can be dismissed simply because they haven't made the playoffs in accouple years, in the lakers case it's just this year, one lousy year plagued by injuries and a bad roster doesn't mean next year they cant reload with talent and be a contender again, and with a healthy Kobe they are always a contender.

If you look closely, you can tell it's a Photoshop. I believe in the original picture he is holding a hockey stick, NHL 94 style.
