jrodsep
The players don't have any say in the plaque logo. They lost that when Wade Boggs sold his to Tampa Bay.Holy crap. Didn't know about the Wade Boggs and Gary Carter situation regarding the cap on their plaque. But, it seems unfair to the player if the HOF is the one selecting it. The player was the one with MLB career, not the HOF or the BBWAA. If no shenanigans are there to be know off regarding his cap pick, he should be the one making the call and if he wore different cap logos for that team, he should select it too. If there is any know money changing hands, sponsorship, business opportunities or just spite (i'm looking at you, Roger Clemens) then the player should go logo less on his plaque. AnPheitseog
My thing, with regards to Biggio? He should, under no circumstances, have the H star as his cap, because he played only for the NL Astros and not the AL Astros franchise, and as such should not bear the logos of the AL team.TO this and the above, I stand corrected in regards to Biggio, but I stand by my point in general Formerly known as DiePerske

2001mark
Maybe if the roiders end up rewarded some day (they won't be, I'm just hypothesizing), they could go in as pre-roided players as they were already HOF calibre...Clemens - Red SoxBonds - PiratesARod - MarinersMcGwire - AthleticsRamirez - IndiansPalmeiro - RangersAt least that would be yet another statement about their careers. @2001mark
CubsFanBudMan
Dave Winfield has a Padres cap, (reason being they drafted him IIRC.) However when I think of him, I think of his years as a yankee. When I think of Biggo, I see him in the world series year uni. Randy Johnson, I'd say his best work was with Arizona, then Seattle. Winfield changed the game. He's the reason players don't choose and only have a say in what cap they wear. He had beef with the Yankees and the Padres gave him a consultant job -- essentially paying him -- to go in as a Padre. Boggs made his Rays deal around the same time, but by the time he went in with Sandberg it was no longer in his or any other player's hands.Biggio is an interesting case coming off the Maddux blank cap year. One guy, one team, but many hats. Didn't realize the Hall turned Maddux to obscure that fact either... until now.The Twins are a good comparison. World Series years were Ms, but lasting identity will be TCs.
smzimbabwe
I don't care about the cap logo. The NFL HOF doesn't put a helmet on the players, it simply lists the teams he played for. If Randy Johnson wants a SF logo on his plaque, why does it matter? Do people suddenly forget he was with the Mariners and D-Backs and others? PhlyBoy
Well, if nothing else, here's another case for the Brewers returning to the BiG full time. Both players currently representing the Brewers in Cooperstown (Yount & Molitor) are wearing it, and anyone who played recently with a chance to go in as a Brewer (Braun & Fielder) wore it as well.Ken Griffey Jr wore a TATC hat - should wear that on his hall plaque? I don't think that anyone really associates those players with the BiG. Maybe if they switch next year and Braun plays at least 5 more awesome years there, but that's about it.The throwbacks have been a regular part of the Brewers' identity for most of the time those guys have been in Milwaukee.... definitely not a TATC situation. And you certainly see more throwback versions of Braun's jersey around town than any version of their "current" look.I'm not actually the biggest fan of the BiG as a cap logo, but I'd rather not see the mess that the Brewers' identity has become in the past few years follow the team to Cooperstown when it comes time to induct its next HOFer.So wait, are you saying that people more associate Braun and Fielder with the BiG logo? Because that would be one of the top 10 dumbest things I've ever heard in my life, no offense
FiddySicks
He put he'd for them in 2009. He was actually pretty fun to watch. CubsFanBudMan
Yeah, in the HOF thread I mentioned no Biggio cap will look right without that Sunshine Kids pin. They'd never do it, but it'd be a nice touch for accuracy's sake.
