These were given out to every fan at the game… Oh my god, you guys made the playoffs three years ago. And four years ago. And five. And seven, eight, nine, and eleven years ago. As any good American who watched ABC's annual showing of The Ten Commandments two weeks ago knows, replacing God with gold is precisely what forced the Israelites to wander in the desert for forty years. The team prez and PR are acting like this is their first playoff appearance or something, just opening themselves (and by extension the community) up to even more ridicule than they were already getting. There's something about "acting like you done been there before" (which they have). I was good with the whole car-smashing thing they had out front of Bridgestone Wednesday before game 1, I'm cool with the whole "STAND WITH US" thing, but drew the line at "IN GOLD WE TRUST" stuff--I get it, SPORTS, easy catchphrase and all, but that's teetering way too close to blasphemy for me. They'd do well to quit now and stop embarrassing themselves. Did NBC produce their own broadcast for every game or did they air some Canadian or local feeds? Just curious. It actually came from a scrap yard across the river...the guys at the yard actually primed and painted the thing solid black before transporting it over to the arena. Within a matter of hours it turned into this (for those unable to view the link):I also got to help with some of the graphics they painted on the ground out front as well as some of the other setup. Kinda cool to just "be in the right place at the right time"--and be off work to do so. But really, that's every fanbase when they start winning. Though it does make me think if the Coyotes or Hurricanes ever failed upwards and won 3 Cups in 6 years, they'd still be relocated just a few years later.
