NHL Anti-Thread: Bad Business Decision Aggregator

For the life of me I couldn't find the old Coyotes/Glendale/relocation thread, otherwise I'd post this there, but... this... is... priceless.

http://www.12news.com/story/news/local/arizona/2015/06/10/coyotes-glendale-contact/28779763/

Wasn't that this thread?

So if Glendale vote to axe the Yotes deal, what are the actual odds of the team relocating. Would the ownership be looking at moving back to Talking Stick, or would all these rumours about a team moving this summer suddenly come true? We know the league has the potential to throw money at this team to try and get it to succeed, do we think this is the final straw?

Yes. He originally started a new thread. I merged it with this one.

As admiral pointed out the #1 prospect for next year's draft is from Arizona. And the Coyotes were pretty bad this season. The NHL won't let their pet project fail when they're one tanked season away from a homegrown fan they can parade around the continent promoting the idea that the Coyotes are Growing the Game™.

If Glendale does end the deal? The NHL will drag the case through the courts for as long as they can. Which would only end up costing the league even more money on this financial black hole of an organization.

I still contend that the rumours about a team moving this summer are referring to the Panthers.

Or they could just keep what they have and change the name. Panthers is a pretty flexible identity.

Yeah, it may be somewhat out of place, but not THAT out of place. Too bad they're not in the NBA where recoloring logos and keeping names like the Lakers after a big move is sort of common.

And we now go live to Glendale, where the situation has quickly deteriorated:

As for the league and Coyotes, the NHL may literally fight tooth and nail to keep the Coyotes in the Phoenix area before this is over. The league would put the Yotes in Page or Kingman (Las Vegas compromise LOL) if that meant keeping the Coyotes in-state.

Perfect solution to this mess? Put em in Snowflake, Arizona! Sure, it's still in the sunbelt, but it's got the word snow in the name!

Supposedly there's some fine print in Arizona where a city contract can be negated in the first three years, but that looks a little gray.

It can be negated if there was a conflict of interest, which there was in Tindall working as counsel for the city and then the Coyotes in a short timeframe.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

Tindall was still receiving compensation from the city.

So, best-case scenario for parking money (which is counting just the 41 regular season home games....no preseason games or concerts/shows during the season).....they're raking in a little over $22,000 per game.

That's not good, folks. And that's assuming the $905,000 isn't inflated.

I'm pretty if they aren't the Nordiques, the only acceptable identity would be the Remparts.
