SilverBullet1929
Did the Astros actually wear the brick red caps during the 05 World Series? I always find it funny when they sell official on field gear with specific patches for gear that the team never wears. Astros brick red, Rockies all purple caps, Marlins orange caps, Reds black caps, etc.

I agree with that. It's just a weird quirk that putting the patches on those items make them look like they were worn by the team in those events and they definitely weren't. Sort of like in the same vain........this jersey is also a authentic jersey claimed to be worn by players on field. but the Cardinals don't use a red jersey! http://www.mlbshop.com/St_Louis_Cardinals_Customized_Jerseys/Mens_St._Louis_Cardinals_Majestic_Fashion_Scarlet_Flex_Base_Authentic_Collection_Custom_Jersey Surprised there isn't also a blue Dodgers jersey available. jerseyjunk
Not quite Bucfan, that Dodgers jersey is not a authentic flexbase jersey used by the players, hence the $120 price tag. That Cardinals jersey cost $352. And if you check the description, it says: "Worn by players on-field" Edit: I stand corrected, i found it here http://www.mlbshop.com/Los_Angeles_Dodgers_Jerseys/Mens_Los_Angeles_Dodgers_Corey_Seager_Majestic_Royal_Fashion_Authentic_Collection_Flex_Base_Player_Jersey that is weird, claiming they are worn on field But these don´t not have the "LA" on the sleeve, whereas those Cardinals jerseys are exactly the same as the home jersey, just red. 63Bulldogs63
I'm sure this has been discussed previously, but has mlb relaxed on the clear color rules? I have noticed many players wearing white spikes this postseason. It's a nice look.
tubby34
If I remember correctly, the cardinals used to wear their red jerseys for o e game in August or September for charity auctions. Bill Hendersons guide would shed more light on em, I’m On my phone so cant access it.

Anyway, The Cards wearing that red jersey once in a while would not be a bad thing. A whole lot better than the Mother and Father day jerseys. Only special i think should be worn is 4th July special, and that´s it. The Dodgers in blue 10-15 times a year would also look great
SCalderwood
The funny thing about the whole "World Series" vs. "WS" thing is that despite being so short, "WS" is a lot more awkward to actually say out loud than "World Series." Saying "World Series" just seems to flow better when spoken than "WS." "World Series" literally has less syllables than "WS."

In the late 90s or early 2000s the Cardinals wore red jerseys around the 4th of July or Labor Day 2-3 years in a row and then never again. The red jersey shown on this thread has been worn during spring training but not in a 162 game. I also hope the Cards never wear a red jersey in a regular season game. Bill DeWitt III has tinkered with the uniforms too much the last few years.

The WS on the jerseys is still pretty dumb, but that hat patch looks AWESOME. It's clean, sharp, it really pops, and the diamond shape works very well and is actually somewhat unique for a World Series patch. It's such a simple concept and I'm really surprised it's not been done before. Also, it just works really well with both teams color schemes. I love that the logo just depicts the top of the trophy coming out from behind the word mark, too. It's understated but still shows the goal. It's not too flashy (2015) but it isn't completely boring, either (2014). I've picked up a World Series on-field 59Fifty every year since 2001 and I think this current year is probably my favorite out of all of them. Yep, that patch is really awesome. I will get myself a Cubs hat and a World Series patch to apply it myself. Gonna look really amazing.

ledik75
I know I'm a bit late to the conversation, but does anyone have a quality picture of the new American & National League trophies, preferably on a white background. I can't find one anywhere. Thanks in advance.

Back then, they only wore the red caps with solid white uniforms on Saturdays. They did not start wearing the red caps with the road jerseys until a few years later. I would be cool with orange undershirts at home only if they would go to this look. Too bad the solid orange cap is gone.
