USL is not a developmental league. USL-C is an independent league whose sole priority is to make money, not develop players. Sure, are there 2 teams that exist in the league who have that as their sole purpose? For now, yes.

Doesnt change that theyre an independent league. Cant wait until MLS2 teams are told to get competitive and care about marketing or get out

It seems like there's at least some incremental progress on this in a few markets. Certainly, winning the USL championship has to help in Salt Lake. And in Portland, T2's new partnership with the Hillsboro Hops of minor league baseball could be a new model. Let the baseball team, which has done a fantastic job of marketing itself, take that role over for T2 while leaving soccer operations to the parent club.

That would be awesome.  I don’t think there’ll be any other opportunity to see them play in Brooklyn, and CCL is the perfect opportunity.

That would indeed be very nice.  The only drawback is that the artificial turf there is painted and cannot be covered; so the baseball diamond's dirt-coloured infield will be prominent and on the field of play.

Still, the Coney Island ballpark successfully hosted the Cosmos; and it will no doubt be great for NYCFC, as well.

Yeah, the turf isn’t great.  But the stadium isn’t bad.

The stadium will be very comfortable for the spectators.

Here is how the field will look:

By the way, this ballpark becomes one of many baseball stadiums to put the soccer pitch in the most natural orientation with one corner near home plate, and also to remove the pitcher's mound.  Take a hint, Yankee Stadium.

Every day I see new teams announced and San Diego isn't among them. Thanks a lot, SDSU.

Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (CHL - 2018 Orr Cup Champions) Chicago Rivermen (UBA/WBL - 2014, 2015, 2017 Intercontinental Cup Champions)

King's Own Hexham FC (BIP - 2022 Saint's Cup Champions) Portland Explorers (EFL - Elite Bowl XIX Champions) Real San Diego (UPL) Red Bull Seattle (ULL - 2018, 2019, 2020 Gait Cup Champions) Vancouver Huskies (CL)

Is the Brooklyn wordmark permanent? That might be more distractign than the fake infield dirt.

That aligns with rumors that Major League Soccer has made a request to the City of Charlotte for the section of South Tryon Street in front of the Mint Museum to be shut down from the evening of December 16th through December 17th. That would provide time to begin setting up staging for an expansion announcement rally on the 16th, followed by the event itself on the 17th.

Back in June, Zack Luttrell - founder of the Roaring Riot, the Carolina Panthers' largest fan club - launched the Mint City Collective in support of Tepper's MLS bid. They've been active in maintaining a coordinated push on Tepper's behalf ever since. A launch event outside of the Mint Museum would dovetail with their identity and efforts.

Yes, all the field markings are permanent.

But Jay Berhalter has played a broader role behind the scenes than his job title suggests, according to Tab Ramos, a prominent former U.S. men’s national team player who left U.S. Soccer in October to become head coach of Major League Soccer’s Houston Dynamo.

“For anyone who’s worked at U.S. Soccer the last four or five years, it was clear that the technical message was coming from Jay Berhalter,” Ramos said.

The latest on USSF being a conflict-ridden nightmare. Apparently we're operating down several youth coaches, too. Great.

Love those colors on MCC. I'd like to see them incorporated by Charlotte MLS. I like the word collective as well. Charlotte Collective FC or Carolina Collective FC would be unique.

I read somewhere that Brooklyn was moving up to Double AA if the purge of minor league baseball goes through.  If so, does MCU Park add more seats?  Or will it be status quo?

They could possibly add seats, or they could do what San Antonio has done and request a delay in updating the park.

Very happy to see that Charlotte is officially number 30 and I can't wait to see the team in action. +1 on using MCC's colors as the team's colors. Honestly, anything tying into the mint would be cool to see.

Mint is such a great color, trendy outside of sports, and sorely underutilized in sports. Normally I'd make a crack about that making it too interesting an idea to actually happen, but if MLS let that horrorshow Nashville color scheme in, anything is possible, at least.
