Not that I like the Cardinals uniforms, but I think the shade of red blended beautifully with the Steelers gold. Raymond James Stadium had great lighting, also the field paint, the logo’s use of green was unique and extended to the walls surrounding the field. Couple that with NBC’s broadcast aesthetics and you had a great looking Super Bowl in my opinion. Not to mention, fantastic game and John Madden’s final call give this one bonus points The colors were quite pleasant on the eyes. However, the uniforms as a whole were/still remain less than desirable. And are we now giving beauty bonus points if Madden called the game?
MJWalker45
What's up with that Denver jersey? Isn't it missing a white stripe?

I just rewatched this Super Bowl on YouTube and came on here to ask this same question. There are probably a dozen different linemen on that Broncos (1987 season) team who are missing the white sleeve stripes in that game. I suspect it has something to do with linemen and their preference for shortening the length of their sleeves, much like we see today in modern-day uniforms. If you look at players in the skill positions in the picture below, the sleeves are much longer, with plenty of room for all the stripes and numbers. But No. 62 has the modified sleeves. The Broncos must have found a workaround by the time they made the Super Bowl following the 1989 season, because I don't see the sleeve variance in that game.

It might have just been from that singular season, though. They wore white jerseys in Super Bowl XXI and XXIV, and I didn't notice them in either of those games, so it could also be limited only to orange jerseys. I might have to look into the AFC championship games in Cleveland in '86 and '87 to see if they both have this.

It may have been a case of needing to replace a uniform halfway through the season and a locale producer just sending those jerseys out on short notice. I believe Wilson was the uniform supplier at that time, but since they weren't putting manufacturer logos on the sleeves then it could be easy to just order from whomever was able to get those to them the quickest, as long as the colors and numbers matched.

DCarp1231
Any Super Bowl that has an over abundance of one (or more) of the same colors worn by both teams is the worst. Should this be in Unpopular Opinions?
Maz
On field designs: I know it's tradition, but I've never really liked the NFL shield at midfield. Having two Super Bowl logos on the 25's always looked odd and felt redundant to me. The way they did it from XXXI to XXXVIII was my favorite: Helmet - Logo - Helmet at midfield. I have always enjoyed the Pre-XXXI helmets in the endzone graphics as well. I'm just a sucker for helmet graphics on the field. That said, I really dig the simplicity of simply putting the team logo and wordmark in the endzones they've adopted recently. 5 Quote Pittsburgh Arsenal - Elite Football League (NFL) - est. 2006
