The Rockies should ditch the black entirely and go with a color scheme similar to Kansas State. Let the purple be the primary color and use silver and white as the accent colors. Absolutely no rhyme or reason as to why they went with black as the primary other than they wanted to

be yet another team on that popular early 90s black and silver bandwagon, and they probably do it worse than any other team.

Dark green would’ve been a better choice, and the All Star Game they hosted in the late 90s showed that.

I always thought that this logo would be a great basis for adding green to the Rockies color scheme and updating their primary logo:

...and for a brand refresh they could start with the most recent All-Star logo and build off of that (hey look there are lighter shades of purple):

This one? It's on Fanatics and milbstore.com if you're cool with the goofy new era logo on the side. I almost bought it last month when I was getting their Red Snappers hat, which is also fantastic.

Alas I should have clarified, a snapback. And ideally a vintage one but decent condition ones rarely go for cheap on eBay. Maine loves its Sea Dogs!

Found some more photos of the Orioles CC merchandise. Not sure why the second one is grey, but it's probably just for merchandise, so I wouldn't think too hard about it. Not sure if the font is a nod to the short-lived home jersey from the 60's or some other distinct block font, but as @bowld pointed out, this whole identity is going to be heavily inspired by Charles Village.

I wouldn't modernize it with the most 1997-ass font in the book (well that or Matrix)

I don't think the 2021 ASG package looked dated. And if it all looked modern enough in 2021, why not 2024? It would certainly look more timeless than whatever Arizona is doing.

Are we positive those sweatshirts are City Connect related, or could they be some sort of weird fashion design?

RIP the National League patch on the Cubs alts

I hate this. It was a weird quirk, but I legit loved that they wore that for as long as they did.

While it's the equivalent of the Bears wearing an NFC patch on their sleeve (would be goofy af, right?), it never really bothered me.

It was more akin to the Chiefs wearing the old AFL patch, IMO. Obviously that’s a bit different with the Lamar Hunt connection, but they wore at least some form of that patch before his death I think.

Speaking of that, did we ever get a reason as to why the Cubs wore the NL patch? I feel like I’ve never gotten an explanation for that one.

They match up with the City Connect socks leak that featured a multi color pattern that used the same color palette as the merchandise leaks. Nike also announced that they are getting the jersey this season, so it makes sense for unreleased merchandise to be leaking around this time. We won't know until the official release, but I can say with 99% certainty that these reflect what the actual City Connect will look like.

I don't know, but prior to the expansion of IL play, it might have been neat if the teams wore patches for their respective leagues either on their sleeves or side of their caps.  The Phillies had a totally stupid IL cap, but I would have rather them wear the regular cap but with the NL patch (or better yet... just the regular cap.)

They also wore the grays in Texas. Throwbacks and cream left to see...

We'll have to wait till Sunday for cream. I'd be beyond shocked if they're gone.

Thursday should be regular pinstripes - not the usual Thursday throwbacks since it's the home opener and they always wear the pinstripes regardless of day or night.

I'm confused about something - if the league is allowing advertising, but not requiring it, and there's no league-wide contract with any advertiser other than Nike, why are all the teams doing the alternating-sleeve method of showcasing the ad?  Wouldn't it be up to them and whoever they sell their soul to?  Couldn't the Phillies have kept their numbers and sold ad space on the other arm in a "take it or leave it" deal?

Once advertisers know that it's designed to be that way, they probably wouldn't accept anything else.

It's where I sit.

But how was it designed that way at a league level?  Should have been something the individual teams decided.  I obviously can't prove it, but I'm willing to bet that an advertiser wouldn't back out of a deal with the Yankees, Red Sox, Phillies, Dodgers, et al if they said that the patch could be on only one side.  That's still a ton of exposure in huge local markets and lots of national games.

Agreed, but it's only half of what it could be. So if you only put it on one sleeve always, it's only visible half the time, so you only get half the money.

That ain't happening once they decided to break the seal.

That makes it seem like you only ever see a player's profile view and never both sleeves.  While the one is facing the camera prior to the pitch, both sleeves are always visible at some point of the at bat, when while running bases, and pitching.

Not arguing with you coz I know you're just giving their argument, I just think that their argument is overblown, and they should have started with one sleeve for the first round, and then seen if advertisers would be willing to pay an additional premium to get the rotating sleeve.

Don't worry about it. In a few years from now ads are gonna be on BOTH sleeves, and none of this will matter.
