NFL 2023 Changes

Washington really could’ve gotten away with keeping the WFT uniforms but swapping out the helmet for the new one. Instead they gave us mishmash trash.

I want to like the new uniforms because Washington is my favorite team, but I really can’t. There’s some things within the set I want carried over whenever they change though. Like the “COMMANDERS” (sans lines) on the home jersey and “WASHINGTON” on the aways. I like the striping on the burgundy jersey as well. The diamond faux mesh could’ve been done a lot better. It’s fixable.

For the things I hate, they could easily add stripes on the pants, the number font is junk, the heavy addition of black is atrocious. Especially the entire black alternate. They look like those non licensed knock off football toys in a dollar tree that are supposed to be the Steelers.

Oddly enough, the Football Team aesthetic solved a small problem with the original Gibbs look in that they removed the helmet stripes which that set inherited from the 70's which, though lovely, didn't match the bicolor striping.

Neither of those are particularly good. Those helmets always needed a two-tone stripe to match the rest of the uniform. UVA made it work back in the day. There's no reason why Washington couldn't have done the same.

Shoutout to the Lions for wearing silver pants vs the Bucs -- the closest they can come to making this look like an old fashioned Lions-Bucs NFC Central match-up.

Wearing blue socks would’ve sent this matchup over the moon. What a shame. Still a good looking game.

Watching a Bucs QB in the creamsicles throw an interception in their own territory really brings me back, I tell ya.

If you're gonna do a 90s theme (which I assume this is), you better wear teal/white/black again.

On another note, the Jaguars only co-existed with that 49ers logo for one year: their inaugural 1995 season. The Niners switched to the inferior updates to their 1994 throwbacks a year later.

The Jets green jerseys are closer to what the Eagles wore in the '80s-'95 than the Eagles new throwbacks are.

Coulda just used that fabric and saved people lots of headaches.

The 49ers didn't even play the Jaguars until 1999.

'90s = Industria and faux marble/metallic textures. Talk about graphic designers showing off to other graphic designers. Their guy must post here. Show yourself.

The last Swamp Dragon sighting here was in 2017, IIRC. The Swamp Dragon has largely moved to other social media to harass people, possibly take credit for his employees' work, and block those who criticize him.

Wait. The Jags jersey was made by Nike, and the Niners by Adidas. Was there not a universal brand for the league at the time?

The first league-wide contract was with Reebok in 2002. Before that, each team chose their own uniform supplier, so you'll also see uniforms with marks of Puma, Wilson, Champion, Russel,  Starter, Apex, Logo Athletic, and possibly others that I'm forgetting. They also only started putting brand logos on the sleeves in the late 80s.

The duality of man uniform nerds is praising the creamsicles from Tampa Bay’s worst era while simultaneously not giving the time of day to Tennessee’s (superior) silver helmet Oilers throwback from Tennessee/Houston’s worst era

I think you were looking for the unpopular opinions thread. The vast majority of people would say that the Campbell/Moon era is the best that franchise has ever looked, and is in the conversation for best football uniform of all time. The silver helmet uniforms are nowhere near that level.

The Oilers looked their best in the 80s-90s though.
