And now Vegas has the whole offseason to diagnose Mark Stone with another LTIR-eligible ailment.  Lupus this time around?

February 2025 Mark Stone contracts the Life-Eater Virus.

He'll recover in time for Round 1.

Deus Ex Machina Virus. Keeps him sick just long enough until they need him to play.

I went 7/8 on my picks. Would've gone 8-0 had I not changed from Panthers to Lightning, but I felt like my bracket was Chalky Studebaker so I switched it. Turns out it was the most chalky first round I can remember.

Where's our guy who always complains that the NHL playoffs are too unpredictable and then goes into the NBA playoffs thread and gripes that they're too predictable?

Who's your conference final and Cup picks?

I'd say FLA/NYR and DAL/EDM

NYR over DAL

Chalk ass playoffs indeed.

My picks were close. Stars > Oilers and Rangers > Bruins and then the Rangers beating the Stars in the final.

I think I would change it now that Dallas had to tough out 7 hard ones while the Avs have been sitting and waiting after averaging over 5 goals per game against the Jets. They look formidable again. Personally I'll be pulling hard for the Oilers to go all the way.

If the Avs beat the Stars and draw the Oilers in the WCF, I don't see that ending well for Edmonton. Colorado has the high end offensive talent to outgun even McDrai, plus they can play a defensive, grindy-style of game if necessary. I could see that series having a couple wild shootouts, but I mostly see it being more like that game in March where the Avs won in the last second of 3v3 overtime.

Mackin Celebrini will be a San Jose Shark, which is kind of cool since his dad works for the Warriors.

At least he didn’t go to Chicago.

Alright tight. Let’s see if this kid can put out this dumpster fire. At least Silicon Valley is warm. And even on a rookie deal, I think he might still be able to afford a modest little condo with a disconnected parking spot. That’s a come up in the Bay Area. Win win, really.

Hurricanes power play disappears, facing a hot goaltender, incapable of winning on the road, and a heartbreaking multi-overtime loss? I've seen this movie before. Rangers will win this series in 5.

Rangers - Canes in OT for the second game in a row.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, OT in the Stanley Cup Playoffs is the best thing in sports...as long as your team isn't involved. OK, Rangers, let's get one and end this thing.

Some Canes fans probably haven’t received their ‘CRY’ shirts in the mail yet. By the time they get it the Rangers will have swept us and the shirt will have a whole new meaning.

Ottawa, what are you doing??

I was underwhelmed by the decision when it was announced, but after reading some takes from people who were around the Canucks during his tenure, and hearing his opening press conference, I'm coming around. There was a lot of turmoil behind the scenes in Vancouver between Jim Benning & ownership, then when the pandemic hit there were massive budget cuts within the organization and almost their entire roster ended up in covid protocol.

He's known for running a tough training camp, with players often being skated so hard that they've thrown up on the ice. Considering how the Sens have made a habit of getting off to terrible starts, this sounds like exactly what they need.

Well, that was easier than I thought it would be.

I really like this Rangers team. Almost as much as I like the Oilers. Rangers-Oilers in the final would be very fun.

It's not your fault, but getting swept after the team account acted like a 14 year twitter troll in 2014 after beating the dang ass Islanders in round 1 like that's anything to get cocky about is exactly the justice the Hurricanes deserve.

I saw the game-tying goal go in and I missed overtime. The first time I checked the score after OT started, the Rangers had already won. It's strange how I didn't get that sinking feeling that usually comes with the opponent scoring a late tying goal. This Rangers team is just unbelievable.
