Because Syracuse and Illinois pull it off better and the Denver Broncos missed the mark for something like that look.

Most of that I’ve seen before, because I’m obsessed with that 97 change, but I had NO idea they were considering going with dark blue/purple. That gives off big time Orlando Rage vibes (which is also one of my personal favorite weird football uniforms), and I can see how that could’ve worked. Some of those logos are pretty good, while other ones are… uh, not (that center stripe is a disaster. And they already got sued by Al Davis for using black and being pirate adjacent. He would’ve had a field day with some of those shield logos, especially on a silver helmet). Ultimately though, they went with the right choice. 14 Quote On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.) I see the vision there and I'd love to see a matching uniform set, but black works much better with the overall brand so it was probably a good call to shelve that idea. The silver helmet also would've looked good, but pewter was definitely the right choice, as was the shorter flag.

DCarp1231
The design I was most interested in seeing for the first time was the silver helmet with the “TB” logo

Notice how they dropped the orange backside of the flag and inserted the orange football to keep the same color balance.

That TB logo would have made for a nice secondary mark, though I don't think it's a better helmet logo than what they went with - but the color balance is exactly what the Bucs should have done the whole time. Pewter first, then orange, and then traces of red. I wish they had shown some prototype uniform designs too. 3 Quote POTD: 2/4/12 3/4/

FiddySicks
Al Davis would’ve spontaneously combusted had they used that logo. He sued them for what they used already (and the Panthers, for having black and silver). I think the Ravens too, for having a shield. 8 Quote On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.) Maybe someone more connected to the process could chime in. 1 Quote It's where I sit.

That's always been my assumption regarding Tampa's first redesign. And up until now, I hadn't questioned it, even though I had no hard reason to think that way. I always just assumed that they started with the helmet and came up with a bunch of ideas for it. Then once they settled on a helmet, they went from there with the uniforms.

I wouldn’t be surprised if there were drawings - maybe rough sketches - of the uniforms for each helmet. I doubt there’s anything super detailed, and I’d be very surprised if physical prototypes were developed.
