Troy University was established in 1887. I don't have any logos in vector format, but I do have many of the athletic logos from the school in .png format.

You just have to know where to look, and to be a little creative with the web addresses ;)

On the Troy site is the graphics and standards manual (look for Chapter/Volume 3) and it contains at least 30 Troy logos in vector format, plus most of the sport-specific ones.

That was exactly what I tried doing when I first found that site. When I right-clicked on the logos, it did absolutely nothing. So, I had to take screen captures of each logo and crop them in Paint.

If you ever get to the mighty Lamar University Cardinals of Beaumont, Texas it was established in 1925. There current web address is lamarcardinals.com. Things are getting exciting around here with Billy Tubbs back on the sidelines.

Just a side note before the school was called Lamar, they were known as the South Park College Brahmas.

there is a high school who released a logo not too long a go that is almost exactlty the same as that shield one. damn, and ithought it was very original <_<

I'll have to check on my old computer, but I might have a better UW-Milwaukee Panthers logo than the one Joel gave you to use on the site. Plus, this isn't a founding date for the school, but UWM changed its name to the current format (it was previously both Milwaukee Normal School and Milwaukee State Teacher's College -- Milwaukee State for shorthand) in 1956...

James Madison Dukes

EPS format for all official logos:

http://www.jmu.edu/identity/wm_library/jmu_marks_pro.zip

"The university was founded in 1908 as an all-female normal school to train teachers for the western part of Virginia. Coeducation came to the then Madison College in 1966 and designation as James Madison University in 1977."

So, everyone uses 1908 as the "founded" date, but it's only officially been JMU since 1977.

I apologize about the size, but these are the best I can fine for the other WCC schools. There's also a vector wordmark for San Francisco, but I have to correct the colors on it.

Here are some from my neck of the woods:

Indiana University - nickname "Hoosiers" - est. 1820

Indiana State University - nickname "Sycamores" - est. 1870

IUPUI (Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis) - nickname "Jaguars" - est. 1969

IPFW (Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne) - nickname "Mastodons" - est. 1917 {you have this listed in the directory as "IPU-FW", they prefer "IPFW"}

Ball State University - nickname "Cardinals" - est. 1899

Purdue University - nickname "Boilermakers" - est. 1869

University of Notre Dame - nickname "Fighting Irish" - est. 1842

University of Evansville - nickname "Purple Aces" - est. 1854

Butler University - nickname "Bulldogs" - est. 1855

Valparaiso University - nickname "Crusaders" - est. 1859

I think that is all of the Division 1 schools in Indiana. I'll check Joel's logos and e-mail you the ones that you need.

I've been working on a report from my database tonight...the linked file below is my first pass at it (all colleges beginning with the letter "A"); I'll eventually have these in HTML form on the SSUR, and broken out by school type (four-year, two-year, Canadian, etc.).

Let me know what you think - I still need to update quite a bit of information in my College database, but it's a big job (!):

University of Nebraska - est. 1869

Football program - est. 1890

Nicknames: Bugeaters, Antelopes, Old Gold Knights, Cornhuskers (1901-present)

I'm compiling a Nebraska uniform and field art history as well, if you're interested in any of that.

Also have vectors of the shoulder patches on the jerseys (I know somebody was looking for those).

I don't think Oregon uses the Donald Duck logo anymore, I think they've gone strictly to the new "O-Oregon" logos that use a similar font to the University of Miami-FL.

I'm more of an OSU fan, than a Oregon Ducks fan -- can't you tell? :P

But anyway, the Ducks still use, well, at least they still sell merchandise with the Donald Duck logo, but primarily within the state of Oregon. Most merchandise sold nationally has the Nike-O logo. The dullest, mind-numbing logo on the planet...

the ducks still use the donald duck logo, and the uo logo. but they are certainly secondary to the new o logo. and hey - that logo is simple and classic. better than that ugly assed beavers logo. did i mention i'm a student at the university of oregon? ducks rule, end of story. death to the beavers and huskies!

Wow, that is quite the database!

What program do you use to generate these reports?

I use MS Access (2002), but someday soon this will all be in SQL Server 2000 (or 2005)...

I'm actually (right now in fact) in the process of automating the generation of these reports to split them out by letter, school type, etc.

About seven years ago, I had a website called "College Colors and Nicknames" (don't remember the URL), but have shelved it until now. I'm going to have a section on the SSUR with all of this information - I'm thinking just PDFs for now...
