Shumway
Not to be stickler, but shouldn't best throwback be a uni actually WORN as a throwback? Or, are you asking best old uni ever for that league? Have the brewers ever worn the glove uni as a throwback or the Hurricanes as the Whalers? Good point, I actually just meant old uniforms in general, not necessarily only those that are still worn.
VitaminD
Pat the Patriot was a awesome logo i seriously don't get why they replaced it with the Flying Elvis. The story I always heard was that back when they made the change, Pat the Patriot was too intricate a design for many of the screen printers and embroiderers trying to make Patriots memorabilia (I am guessing officially licensed stuff, sicne I can't see the NFL Marketing Machine pandering to the black marketeers), so they swicthed to the Flying Elvis because it was easier to reproduce. I've never seen this actually substantiated, but I have also not heard another explanation. "Start spreading the news... They're leavin' today... Won't get to be a part of it... In old New York..."In order for the Mets' run of 12 losses in 17 games to mean something, the Phillies still had to win 13 of 17.

I've never seen this actually substantiated, but I have also not heard another explanation. That could very well be true, and it makes sense...but I also think it's because Pat was outdated. The Flying Elvis is more of a refined, corporate look. The NFL is a business, so it would seem to make sense. With that being said, I do like both logos, they both have their place and time, although I am starting to collect the old Pat Patriots merchandise (jerseys, mini helmets, t's, hats, etc.) now that Reebok has made it nice and plentiful. Yep, I just gave props to Reebok (for those of you who know I am anti-reebok due to its monopoly it holds in the NFL)...you won't see that again lol. infrared41
What a great question for my first post. Let me start by saying I love throwbacks, especially in the NFL and I am not real crazy about the new looks in football. So here goes...Baseball: Braves 70's era Blue Jerseys. Football: A month ago it would have been the Chargers Powder Blues but I think it's a tie now that I have seen Buffalo's new throwback alternate unis. (I would love to see the Rams go back to their basic blue and white from the 60's.)NBA: The Dr. J. era Nets Jerseys.Hockey: I like the current classics. Rangers, Red Wings, Bruins, etc. If I had to pick a "throwback" it's hands down the old NorthStars jerseys.
