Houston NHL concept

Here's a concept I developed for the Penguins if they moved to Houston. The name is the Houston Orbit. In theory, they would be in the Central, bumping Nashville to the Southeast, who would bump Washington to the Atlantic.

Check out the home jerseys and logos. Other jerseys to come soon. C+C appreciated.

:notworthy: Wow, this is a great concept!

The logo, the colors, the striping, I love it all. I honestly can't think of a single thing that would make this concept any better than it already is. I look forward to seeing the other jerseys sometime soon. Again, great job.

Not only do I like this concept, I like what you're new scenario would be for the NHL, Washington would definately be a better fit for the Atlantic, and Nashville is so Southeast, the travel times will be better for them as well (since the new NHL schedule is so conference based.)

I like the way it all works together, except the "H" leaning to the left.

Have you tired it leaning to the right?

To me that would convey the motion better-it looks backwards as is, sort of like it's being pushed backwards.

But that's not a major point in a well done logo/uni/concept.

Comic Sans walks into a bar, and the bartender says, "Sorry, we don't serve your type here."

Excellent concept. I like the way the design meshes with the logo. I would like to see what the white jersey looks like. For your seconday logo you might want to define the earth a bit more with the continents- right now I can't tell what part of the earth is showing. That's nitpicking, however. Good job.

My thoughts exactly. Reading left to right like we do, slanting to the left looks like its falling backward.

Additionally, I'd suggest perhaps reducing the number of colours in the alternate logos, especially the grays... although they convey the sense of the moon well, its a lot of colours to include, especially in light of none of them being a part of the scheme in any other way.

Otherwise, nice concept. Well rendered, looks sharp.

I love this concept. The Challengers would be a good name for it. The Apollos would maybe work, but you'd have to change the shuttle to the old rockets.

I thought about that, with the whole blowing up tragedy. But I mean, it works. It sounds nice anyway.

The concept looks really good, jerseys are amazing!!! I'd buy it if they were to move to Houston...

Minor nitpick though. Something was bothering me and I finally found that it was the shape of the orbit. As it is right now, the orbit on the primary logo is going around the H as an 8, and not as an ellipse. But as I said, minor nitpick. And maybe the H should lean to the right. Other than that, it's a sweet package!

The concept itself is really, really good. It's better than one or two of the monstrosities floating around the NHL at the moment. The colors go along excellently with the theme, and they're unique while keeping somewhat to the Penguins' current and past themes, and I like how the Orbit completes the whole "H O" idea.

I'm not sold on the "Orbit" name, though. It seems a bit minor league to me. Going with "Apollos" is good except that you're going to get a lot of techincal people nitpicking that you can't use the secondary logo because the Apollo ships were capsules and rockets, not space shuttles. "Challengers" isn't that great of a name either, IMO, and that would be more linked to Florida, I would think, since it took off from Cape Canaveral.

That being said, I guess if you were going to stick with one, you would have to go with "Orbit", which the more I type sounds better and better.

Excellent job, sir. Very well thought out, very well executed.

As much as it pains me to think about the Penguins leaving, I love the concept! I love the colors the look and the whole design. It doesn't bother me that the "H" is leaning the other direction because of the planet orbiting it keeps it in balance. very nice work!

I really like both the logo the jersey. I agree though that the name would have to go. There are other nicknames you could use for that logo. I too agree with Rynoz that even with the "H" leaning to the left it looks balanced with the orbiting planet. Nice work.

And even though this is off-topic, I think that the Red Wings or Blue Jackets would get moved East before the Predators would, considering that both teams are in the Eastern Time Zone and having to deal with the Western Conference time difference BS.
