PittsburghSucks
This teacher sounds like a real class act.http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06024/643226.stm

illinirox1
That's ridiculous. It's not even like Pittsburgh lost!!! And how are you about to humiliate one of your students like that? That teacher should be fired, and forced to watch footage of steelers losses for the rest of his life.
Dilbert
We have a lot of people wear Steelers jersies at our school, and as much as I hate Pittsburgh, I say nothing to them. This teacher was stupid and unprofessional.
black_gold_capone
Im from Beaver Falls, I don't attend the school though (they kicked me out) but one of my friends said that a bunch of students are gonna stay outside with signs and protest against him.He shouldn't have done that there are a million other ways that you can show love for the Steelers, this is embarrasing just like when Maddox and the refs house got vandalized. Shumway
I'm not supporting what the teacher did in any way, but why didn't the student simply leave the room? He's a 17-year-old kid, and apparently an honor student, wouldn't he have the common sense to get out of the situation.Granted, the teacher should be disciplined in some way, if not fired. SEMOSTLfan
yes this guy should be fired without question, but for cryin' out loud if that's happening to me in a class i'd get my happy ass up off the floor and walk out of the classroom, there's no reason you should take that as a human being. Not to mention if it was really as bad as this kid says there may have been a physical altercation because thats just ridiculous. Nobody has the right to take your dignity away like that. LMU
Perhaps the campus was like my high school, where there was a zero tolerance policy for being outside a classroom without some sort of hall pass.Regardless, Not only should the teacher be fired, but his midterm should be thrown out. VandyDelphia Mike
I don't know about some people, but if I were that principle, he'd be fired. PrinciPAL. Because after all, the last three letters spell "pal," and that's what the principal is. He/she is your pal. Okay, not really.Anyway, the teacher here is almost as good as the substitute that sent Mike Mularkey's kid home in tears, making the decision to resign and become ex-Bills coach all that more simple. FiddySicks
I have teachers at my high school who we all know are BIG time sports fans, and they give the kids who are fans of opposing teams crap all the time, but its firendly and sarcastic. I can see it being pretty damn funny at first, even if i was the kid who they were doing it to, but theres such thing as taking it too far. Im sure the teacher has no malice or ill feelings towards the student and meant it just as a joke, but you have to know your limits. Its ok to rouse someone up a bit, its part of being a fan, but when its getting to the point where other students are telling the teacher to knock it off, its about time to get everything back to normal, put the desks back in order and let the kid know, hey bud, just messin around with ya. The thing im really wondering is, why the hell would the teacher pull this disruptive during a final exam? Most students who try this crap get booted out onto the sidewalk and take a zero for the final.

infrared41
After doing a little research on the matter it turns out that the teacher's actions may have been part of the way he teaches the class. Apparently students know this going into his class. He uses situations like that to teach what it feels like to be discriminated against. I'm not defending him or saying hat he did was right but what happened does seem to fit the way he teaches his classes. He also has his classes participate in something called "The Ethnic Jew." They are required to wear a yellow star of david armband etc. and be taunted by classmates as part of their preparation for a trip to the holocaust museum. His methods are unusual but it doesn't look like the guy "just snapped" over a Broncos jersey. As usual there is more to this story than what the media is reporting. NJTank
I dont like the singling out of one student, if the kid knows its a lesson they coudl be prepared but instead he was humiliated, and that does nobody any good. If this is his teaching methods they reek. Also when the student puts on the Star of David they know its a lesson, and part of what he does, this kid did not know what was going on.
