New Oregon unis

Few points:

I can agree with the guy who said the reason why Nike does what it does, especially with Oregon's Ducks, is publicity. Everybody and they sisterbabydaddycousinbestfriendbrother talkin bout it now. From a marketing standpoint, I think--no, I KNOW--Nike hit the mark.

Now, aesthetically--I am not liking it as is. I'm all for trying out new things (as will be seen when I get to posting my first set of concepts after I get them all finsihed), but this? WOW.

One other thing: is that chrome reflective? One pic I see of these has the players standing in the stadium and all the diamond-plate and the chrome trim on the yellow uni looks bright--or just plain white. Is that p/s'd or is that chrome really reflective? (If it IS reflective, I guarantee at least three other schools will try that idea next season.)

As far as sales, I really can't say for sure, but I don't think Mike is really trying to "sell" these things as merchandise. They can get all the publicity they need for Oregon by doing stuff like this. I've been quite a few places, and I haven't seen a SINGLE HAT, HERSEY, OR EVEN SO MUCH AS A T-SHIRT ANYWHERE. (I ain't been out to the Pac NW yet, but I want to.) But again--somehow I just don't think Nike is trying to get sales money out of this. I think it's more to promote themselves, since, after all, the #1 objective of advertising IS product/brand awareness. (See--I DO pay attention in my classes at school!) And since advertising is but one ingredient in marketing, the U of O Ducks in those concoctions they'll be fielding, as running, hitting, catching, throwing and blocking billboards--that will help Nike in its marketing objective--with this, obviously, as a tool to market themselves to a younger, wilder audience, not to mention pull some kids to the U of O, since their recruitment rank sucks (what was it like LAST IN THE PAC-10?) Tie all that in together and they fit like the pieces of a jigsaw puzzle.

This just happens to be one brash, bold, vibrant, UGLY puzzle.

*Disclaimer: I am not an authoritative expert on stuff...I just do a lot of reading and research and keep in close connect with a bunch of people who are authoritative experts on stuff. 😁

I love the colors, I think they work real well.

I'm not a fan of the "steel" pattern but it'll grow on me.

Lets face it, even if a lot of people don't like the colors/uni design at least something new and different is being created as far as uni design is concerned, as opposed to the same old crap. Let them keep experimenting, eventually they'll come up with a clear winner.

I'm a fan for now.

I have to say, I like the overall idea, but there is a problem with the yellow helment, why not have a green facemask. I like the all white uniform, and the yellow. But when you bring black, boo! I was amazed that they did put one of those uni sleve uniforms like V Tech

I can't stand looking at the yellow helmet...

The only two jersey's I don't mind is the all white jersey's and the green/black shoulders combo, besides those two, the rest are just plain TERRIBLE.

And definately the green helmet, I hate the white helmet as well.

i would like to see these jerseys without the diamond metal on the shoulders legs and yes the crotch, maybe you didnt notice but there is the pattern down there. that is just unnessciary. i think the jerseys would like 10 times better without the metal pattern. somebody wanna make a concept??

Are these uniforms really so radical? You have teams out there with Piping going every which way, slashes her slashes there.

The Ducks uniforms are really very simple by comparison, save the diamond plate pattern which is not over bearing.

Some of the worst color combinations have been at the smaller schools - like FAMU - birght orange and green? But Nike U, I mean Oregon U is deifintely the worst.

Nike doesn't choose the school colors. The schools do. Nike's color palette had to include green and athletic gold, Oregon's official colors. School colors may be ugly to you... but I guarantee your alma mater's colors will be beautiful to you, and you'll have several articles of clothing in those "worst color combinations". Conversely, some very nice colors will be unattractive to you (for me, that'd be Duke royal blue and NC State red, and I used to like orange/navy 'til UVA ruined that).

Many schools wear green/gold, and wear it well. Nike would do what it did regardless of the colors they had to start with. Diamondplate and Blade Runner numbers would be gross even in colors as sweet as Carolina Blue and white.

In order for the Mets' run of 12 losses in 17 games to mean something, the Phillies still had to win 13 of 17.

Oregon Sucks may they never win a game in taht horrendous hideopus ugliest uniforms ever.

This uniform is so ugly that you have to tie a porkchop to its neck in order to get the dog to play with it.

Honestly the white doesn't bother me nor does the green. It's the black and yellow that really are too much. One maybe as an alt, but not both! and the yellow helmet has got to go. that's so tokyo drift of them. I need to go cleanse my brain out for even thinking of that movie.

So the question becomes - is the problem the design itself, the colors, or the combination?

On an OU message board, someone modified one of the pics to change from green and gold to crimson and cream. As an OU fan, I think it looks better in crimson and cream, but would never want to see the Sooners change from their current uniforms.

Thoughts?

Lose the diamond plate = almost normal jersey.

Would not like to see OU in that though, I like their tradition.

The one major thing I have to say I do like as a new innovative design item is the name of the school down the side/back of leg, I think thats kinda neat.

The World Basketball Championship, the Davis Cup, Ryder Cup, Iraq: Every day there's further proof that we, as a nation, are not very good at international competition.
