i like the one idea that the redskins should go Dolphins with changing up the pants for away and home.

However, you know the Skins haven't change their look since the 80s cept for the FSU look. I kinda of like the change of pace with white/white or leotard look. If you ain't going to wear the dark top at home, then why be the same.

I just wish they would add a gold pants.

Gibbs is being WAY too much of a nice guy, and this is pure madness to change the team uniforms just because one screwball player doesn't like how his socks look!!!! THIS IS THE NFL, CLINTON!!!!

Its not just Portis. Most of the players hate striped socks. This is 2006. Those things went out with the Carter administration and The Dukes of Hazzard.

The Redskins White Jersey Burgandy pants look is the best damn look in any sport IMO. I was so bummed to see the Skins wear the all white look so often last season. Honestly, that combo is one reason that I like the Skins as much as I do. Its nostalgic, and im a sucker for nostalgia.

Sorry, I realize you like "nostalgia", but that uniform from top to bottom is hideous. The colors are bad and gaudy. The stripes on the jerseys and pants are very 1970's-ish. The striped socks have been out-of-style for 20 years. I guess as long as Lil' Danny Snyder owns the team, he wants to believe he is still 12 years old watching his team as a rich tyke in the D.C. area. So, the status quo will continue.

The Redskins could have a sharp and very unique (to everyone else in the NFL) look if they went to the dark maroon and mustard gold color scheme. They could probably even keep the current helmet logo (if its still P.C. to have that logo on a helmet) on the maroon helmet. How bout' this:

Maroon helmet with current logo. Single mustard gold stripe down the middle of helmet.

Maroon home jersey's. White number trimmed in gold. Number on shoulder. Secondary logo (a spear or the Joe Gibbs "R" hat logo) on sleeve. Mustard gold pants with thin maroon and white stripes. Solid maroon socks. Black shoes.

White home jersey's. Maroon number trimmed in gold. Number on shoulder. Secondary logo on sleeve. Choice of either maroon pants with thin gold and white stripes. (For once I'll agree with 5..4..3...2...1... on something) White socks with thin maroon and gold stripe (with maroon pants) or mustard gold pants (with solid maroon socks). Black shoes.

Maybe someone could do a mock-up of my potential Skins' uniform. It would blow the current ones out of the water and most of the players (like Portis for example) would LOVE these changes.

I say go back to the 70's ann Uniform , But with a new crisper more defined Redskins logo ( look at what the Cardinals did ) But with a bit of a darker burgundy & a mustard flake gold . So still all & all keepp it the same Uni ( No Minnesota update) But with newer modern updates .

Well, thats your opinion, and ill respect that. I still dont agree with it. I still feel what they have now is incredible. But hey, at least we can agree to dissagree :)

I was always a fan of the yellow pants. Unique and bold. I don't pretend that I am in the majority in that. HOWEVER, isn't this a great shot in terms of team uniforms? While maybe not the most popular set, these redskins combos are fabulous and the Lions set is vastly superior to the current look.

Oh the days...

I've always been a proponent of a hybrid look -- with the burgundy and mustard (instead of the cherry red and yellow) as the colors, the current helmet logo (redone in the new colors) on the helmet and the spears on the sleeves.

Besides, the burgundy socks the players like go good with the gold pants.

I had this mockup of what a hybrid helmet might look like -- current logo in old colors:

Maybe the 'yellow' parts could be more toward the mustard -- but that's the general idea.

1) Darken the maroon to match the throwbacks

2) add a sleeve patch - the spear - get rid of the ginormous stripes. Replace them with UCLA type string of smaller stripes at the sleeve like the Sehawks have

3) shrink the size of the logo on the helmet

4) gold pants at home, darker maroon on the road

5) utilize the old feather in a new way instead of center stripes. If the Panthers and Titans can do it, so can Washington.

I think this looks great - esp with the non-yellow facemask, I hate what they have now.

I like the white on white better than the burgandy pants with white tops, but I wish they would wear dark jerseys at home.

A very close friend of mine works for Gameplan Creative in Chicago.

They developed some really outstanding logos and uniforms for the Redskins last year as an experiment for Daniel Snyder in order to see if the team was ready to make a move into a more modern design.

They did a lot of uniform options and alternate black idea as well. All off the hook...

But once the Redskins went on their winning streak all uniform and identity work was postponed indefinitely until the team decides how to handle their 75th Anniversary in 2007.

Gameplan Creative has an out-take in fact of a secondary logo, a W with a modernized spear through it that is also very bad ass.

GC does some great progressive clean sports branding work and this is another example...

Hit it.

Gameplan Creative has also done some awful "claw your eyes out of your sockets" stuff. Case in point the Charlotte Bobcats identity package.

BTW Tom, voices in your head do not count as "friends" ^_^

I have no official information on this but if Snyder overhauls the current identity as soon as Gibbs rides back off into the sunset, I won't be shocked. Remember, during the Spurrier era they were wearing red jerseys at home for the first time in a long time and only switched back to white per Gibbs request.
