#23

I checked my hockey jersey collection and saw that I have each number from 1-35 except for #23.

Right off the top of my head, I can't really think of a standout player who wore #23 that I should try to get.

It doesn't have to be NHL. It could be a national team or even a IHL/AHL jersey, but nothing too obscure from lower minors or little known college or juniors. It certainly doesn't have to be current either. 80's or 90's is fine.

Any suggestions for a good #23 jersey? Hockey only please. :hockeysmiley:

Being a Wild fan, I doubt you'd want a Milan Hejduk sweater, though a Czech national team one might be cool.

Personally, I'd go with Bob Gainey. Habs with the captain's 'C', or for something special, this 1981 Canada Cup sweater with the 'A'.

Going through some of my hockey cards from 1990 I've come up with:

Craig Janney Boston

Lee Norwood Detroit

Brian Bellows Minnesota

Bruce Driver New Jersey

Ilkka Sinisalo Philadelphia

Rich Sutter St. Louis

Paul MacDermid Winninpeg

Ray Sheppard NYR

Randy Hillier Pittsburgh

Todd Gill Toronto

Stephane Matteau Calgary

Pat Murray Philly

1991

Randy Hillier Buffalo

Dave Manson Edmonton

Craig Ludwig Minnesota

Jeff Beukeboom NYR

Garry Valk Vancouver

Link Gaetz San Jose (Sharks first year)

1988

Ray Sheppard Buffalo

Randy Hillier Pittsburgh

Of course doesn't Scott Gomez of the Devils wear 23?

Worth getting just because of the cool last name.

That Canada Cup jersey is pretty f-ing sweet too.

How about Tyler Hirsch? Not an all-time great, but he doesn't seem to be having too bad of a season this year.

Except for that one little thing last week.

Oops... I'm out of town for a week and the whole world goes to hell in a handbasket! The least the Gophers didn't wear Swift jerseys while I was away.

Anyway, never mind about the Hirsch thing.

Martin Gelinas - #23 - Calgary Flames - "The Eliminator" - Scored the winning goal of the final game of each playoff series in overtime that the Calgary Flames won in 2004. Nice little bit of trivia. :D
