2008 NFL Playoffs

You're brave to go to a Steelers home playoff game where the opposing jersey.

Were you heckled much/at all?

Of the impression I have of Steeler fans, I'm sure there was some friendly heckling going on. But they heckled because they respect the point that an opposing fan came to their stadium, since the Steelers fanbase has a reputation of having a ton of fans in the seats at away games.

Spot on.

That's exactly what I got...a bunch of friendly heckling (of course, anytime football, playoffs, and and alcohol mix, someone's bound to go a tad bit off the deep end...but just a few). I was just there to enjoy the atmosphere. And I was game for whatever happened...wasn't going in there tryna proclaim the Jaguars was going to cut the necks off the Steelers or nothing like that (maybe because there was a feeling in the collective pits of the Steeler fans' stomachs that the final outcome wouldn't be in their favor, or so I sensed). The funny thing is that a couple Steeler fans actually offered to buy the jersey right off my back! (I know some were playing...but one dude actually held up a c-note at me. I thought that was rather funny.) But all in all..that was probably one of the best experiences I've ever had in my life. And after it was all over (after Bennie's fumble)...really the only thing I did was stand up and take a bow (sorta like how former Falcons receiver Terrence Mathis used to do after he would score a TD)...and then left out. Didn't no one really have much to say to me afterwards...other than "good game"...oh--and this: "GO JAGS...BEAT THEM PATRIOTS!!!" That came from fans on both sides.

All this to add to the fact that I was there with my lil' lady (who by the way was sporting her "Big Ben 7" sweater :D ), which just made it that much better. Of course she was all in the game when the Steelers were doing good and scoring...each time the Jags did something good she wanted to either yawn or act like she ain't care. Yeah right...she cared. But that just added to all the fun.

Visual? Here I am with my lil' babymomma up in section 535 (upper tier, right about the 50-yard line...excellent perspective to watch that game):

atthegame.jpg

While I was at the game (got there kinda early)...I got a chance to watch some tape from the Sea Hawks/Redskins tilt. Now mind you, Patrick Kerney was a beat in Atlanta, but dude seem like a whole new man in Puget Slate. I think everyone knows about the 'Hawks "O"...but that D has been underrrated for quite some time now. Now, being that I live on the East, I hardly ever get a chance to see the Sea Hawks play on TV locally, so I never got a chance to see just how good they really were together. I am now well aware. (And mind you...I picked the 'Skins on this game...boy was I wrong. I'm a man...I can admit that.) So now it's back to Green Bay for Matt Hasselbeck...who still wants the ball...and they're still gonna score! (He already got that out the way during the postgame press conference.)

And now my eyes turn towards Raymond James Stadium...where my Buccaneers will hopefully make me 2-0 with my two home state teams. I think they do it...FIRE THEM CANNONS! (I wanted to go that game so bad...but the Buccaneers were not selling tickets to non-Florida residents, which sucks for me because I still hold a valid Florida state driver's licanse...but hey, I took in one in which my "B" team handled business. I'll just have to cheer on my cousin 'n em from afar...decked in Buc garb, of course. :D

Congrats to the Seahawks, they played the better game, but not by much. We reverted back to the team we were, o-line struggling, late turnovers costing us games, it wasnt pretty. Neither team ran the ball very well. I underrated the Seahawks defense, Patrick Kerney is a beast. Our defense gave us a chance to win, but Todd Collins couldnt pull magic out of his ass this time. It had to end sometime, just wish it wasnt so soon. Oh well, heres to Jason Campbell becoming an elite QB in '08!

So the Bucs come out firing in WHITE at home (who are we, the Steelers?) and seem to run outta gas/get figured out early by Eli pretty early. I hope we can make some second half adjustments, cause we need to play with the same fire we did in the first few series if we wanna make that trip to Texas Stadium next weekend. FIRE THEM CANNONS!!!!

Yeah they definitely need to fire SOMETHING...maybe their internal flames, cuz right now the Giants is all the way up in the Buccaneers' collective arses. BUT...we saw what happened in the fourth quarter with this team against the Patriots (granted, it WAS the Patriots, but still..) However...it seems like the Gints are just having their way with the Buccaneers here. Looks like Eli growin up today. Damn it...however, we still got a whole quarter to go here.

EDIT: Season over. Goodnight, Tampa Bay.

R.W. McQuarters pretty much just ended the game with that INT. Third time's the charm for the Giants. For my Buccaneers...a season well-played just ended in a game full of disappointment. The Buccaneers just plain-out got DOMINATED today, on both sides. Bitter a taste as it may leave, I MUST tip my hat to Eli Manning for playing one hell of a game, such as he has today. And since not a single Buccaneer is in the Pro Bowl, guess that's really it for my boys.

Ah well...looks like I'm 1-1 with my home state team. At least I can still rub the Jaguar victory in the faces of the Steeler fans here. :P

Well, like Bucco I can't say im not dissapointed, but truth is I really gotta give it to em for turning it around as well as they did. Looks like the future is bright in Tampa and im excited for it. Go Jags I guess. How long till baseball season again? :P

Yes...things are looking rather rosy down there in Tampa. That said...the stalwarts ain't gon be around forever, so let's see if Gruden goes for some youth infusion on the offensive side of the ball via the draft in April. It seems that the "D" has some good young depth (and where in the hell did this guy Greg White come from...he's really been a beast this year!)...plus, NO ONE picked them to win the division (weak and wack as it was this year, but still...).

But yeah...to echo what BF56 said up above...things are looking mighty good for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next year.

And now my eye turns (well...at least my MEdia Net link does) towards that game out in SD to see there the Blaguars will end up playing next. Oh--and one more thing: baseball does not exist in my world. :D

Yeah well, I just love putting false hope into a team thats realistically out of it and shipping off all their stars by the All Star break, and baseball is usually the best outlet for that :P

Anyway Bucco, you know of anyone out there whos a potential offensive FA who we could add that may actually be that deep threat weve always been missing?

Maybe that o-line played bad because the Seahawks have a great pass rush? Give some credit to them. The Seahawks played much better than the Skins; they couldn’t do anything offensively except for parts of the third quarter and the beginning of the fourth quarter.

Not by much??? You lost by 21. 35-14. Seems to me that score would indicate that Seattle played a whole lot better than Washington. I don't know. Maybe I am missing something.

Bernard Berrian from the Bears is probably going to be available. He had a really good season last year as the Bears primary deep threat. He didn't do as good this year, partially because of Grossman being out most of the year so noone could throw it deep enough. Chances are he will want more money than the Bears will give him, so he'll probably be a free agent.

Washington was ahead 14-13 at some point in the 4th IIRC.

And yet they weren't ahead in the end when it mattered the most. Bag on their rushing attack, their o-line all you want. Seattle won, Washington lost.

I'm not disputing that...I am disputing the "whole lot better" thing.

I'm rooting for the Seahawks....... yeah that's it.

As a fellow Seahawk fan, I say good for you. I'm rooting for Seattle to not only beat the Deadskins, but embarass them off the field. I, for one, am tired of hearing of all of this junk about the Redskins and their dead player. In case the nation has forgotten, there is an NFC West champion in this game as well.

By default.

Want a cookie?

Sure. While you're at it, why don't you get me a bottle of Mountain Dew as well... Oh, and some Pringles. I love me some Pringles.

Touche....

Want a popcorn bucket as well?

.... ok good... because I wanted to ask this question:

Seattle is going to Green Bay.... you're going to OT and you win the coin toss... what are you going to say (now)?

Want a popcorn bucket as well?

If he won't take it, I will....

I saw, I came, I left.

Wow, this Chargers Titans game has been a snoozer. I can't tell if Tennessee is really playing that well, or if San Diego is playing that bad....
