BCS Championship Game

LSU looks damn sloppy so far.

About as sloppy as Florida looked at this time last year........

Hmmm, well well well. I hate to pat myself on the back, but I do gotta say that was an excellent job of foreshadowing :P

Anyway, I gotta say its pretty halarious to see how quickly OSU fans went from looking like they're having the time of their lives to looking like their puppy just died. They showed a tuba player from the marching band who was hooping and hollering and jumping up and down when OSU went up 10-0 to looking just downright tortured when LSU tied it up.

EDIT: Well thats it, Ohio State Tuba Guy just hung himself. 31-10.

I brought this up in the college football thread and I'll ask again, why is it Ohio State with a 3-1 record (including a National Championship) in their last 4 BCS Bowls is a punchline while Oklahoma, despite going 0-4 (with a losses to The WAC and Big East) in their last 4 BCS bowls, is a media darling? Apparently I'm not the only one who has noticed.

From SI.com

There are no official records to support this contention, but it's entirely possible no team in the history of college football has ever endured as much backlash over the result of one lopsided loss as the Buckeyes have in the 12 months since their 41-14 defeat to Florida in last year's national championship game.

Oklahoma lost 55-19 to USC in 2005 and somehow managed to survive with its reputation in tact. Florida's 62-24 loss to Nebraska in the 1996 Fiesta Bowl did little to dampen the aura surrounding Steve Spurrier and the Gators during their subsequent title run the next season.

Yet despite winning all three of its previous BCS appearances under Jim Tressel (including the 2002 national championship over Miami), despite winning 30 of their past 32 games, last year's Debacle in the Desert somehow became a public referendum against not only Ohio State but its entire conference.

So why is that?

I think I can answer my own question now. It's because every criticism made against Ohio State up to this point turns out to be true. We got no business being there. We deserve all the :censored: we're about to get.

I am turning off this debacle. Congrats LSU.

Ohio State will still win this game.

Everything in your post is correct, except the part about OSU having a prayer in this game.

Woah now, two TD game and OSU has just made three straight defensive stops (yes im including the roughing the kicker penalty drive) Plenty of time now too. I still doubt it'll happen though.

You have failed me, Universe. All I asked for was a killer asteroid to wipe those cretins out once and for all, yet you could not even do that for me!

[Croatia National Team Manager Slavan] Bilic then went on to explain how Croatia's success can partially be put down to his progressive man-management techniques. "Sometimes I lie in the bed with my players. I go to the room of Vedran Corluka and Luka Modric when I see they have a problem and I lie in bed with them and we talk for 10 minutes." Maybe Capello could try getting through to his players this way too? Although how far he'd get with Joe Cole jumping up and down on the mattress and Rooney demanding to be read his favourite page from The Very Hungry Caterpillar is open to question. --The Guardian's Fiver, 08 September 2008

Look at it this way: LSU and Georgia could finish 1-2 in the final polls, just to spite the non-SEC folks.....
