gingerbreadmann
Fine. If Asante wants to leave a winning organization for more money, let im walk. Hopefully he'll suffer the curse of leaving the Patriots. You damn idiot Asante, you must have missed the moral of the Deion Branch saga! Then again.. the Pats might get Ty Law back Shaun Rogers is being traded to the Bengals for a third and fifth round pick. The way the Lions draft, those picks will be wasted. It is so hard to stay a Lions fan plus they wouldn't give up enough for Vilma, and lost out on him.Lol, yeah the Saints sure took a hit to get him... And the latest on Ike saga....I believe this is called "twisting the proverbial knife" for Rams fans.I'm thinking about using (Rams GM) Jay Zygmunt's nickname of "Ziggy" as a pejorative. You know, as in "The Patriots really Ziggy'd it up in the Super Bowl." -(dp)-
Well, it looks like the Rogers to Cincinnati deal may have fallen through. It hasn't been sent to the league office, and now it looks like he may be dealt to Cleveland. The deal with Cleveland appears to be Rogers for a third round pick and CB Leigh Bodden. Personally, I like this better than the Bengals deal, because we get a proven player instead of a fifth rounder. I hope this one goes through. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3271113

BBTV
MAJOR SIGNING!!!!!Former Eagles FB Thomas Tapeh has signed with the Vikings.I'm devastated. I have no idea how they can replace a player with his blocking ability and pass-catching skills. tBBP
***STEELERVILLE ALERT***You all knew it was coming...in fact, I called it as soon as I found out he wouldn't be back......it appears (former) Steelers O-lineman Alan Faneca may be trading in in bis black and (yellow)gold for New York's (New Jersey's) Gang Green threads. In other FA news......Former Big Blue 'backer Kawika Mitchell is now a Buffalo Bill. Good for Buffalo (I hope). In case no one mentioned it yet, Shaun Rogers is now officially a Cleveland Brown. (Might actually help the eyes...I really didn't want to think about how all those tiger stripes would look stretched out over all that mass of his...)Here's some other interesting little tidbits:Along wit Isaac Bruce, former Panther RB DeShaun Foster is also now a 49er. Guess who else will be suiting up for them? Allen Rossum.Oh...and the Dolphins signed Josh McCown. (And speaking of the Dolphins, former QB Cleo Lemon done moved up I-95, to Jacksonville...which, again, somehow ended up with three black QB on their roster, something I find rather interesting. Not tryna start nothin by saying that, just thought it was interesting and worth noting.)Also, in somewhat major Buccaneer news, Tampa Bay now has the highest-paid center in the game...former Saint Jeff Faine. pcgd
Maybe someone can explain this to me.In the signing of Dereck Anderson in Cleveland, I had heard they were a couple years away on what each wanted. The Browns wanted 3 years, Anderson wanted 5 or 6.Now if you are the Browns, why don't you just offer him a 5 year deal, worth the same per year as the other one, and then just cut him after 3 years? The contracts in the NFL are not guaranteed, so who cares if you give a guy a 10 year contract?Just curious if there were repercussions to this that I didn't know about. mania
Because, depending on the way the contract is worded, it could handicap the team's salary cap. And chances are, the player's agent wouldn't sign something that would virtually be a 3 year deal, bonus-wise(which determines whether the contract is seen to fruition) if they really wanted 5-6. Island_Style
The Jags signed their best player so far this offseason. They just signed Drayton Florence. No terms of the deal has been released.Marcus Stroud deal should go down today. He will be traded to Buffalo for multiple picks.

The contracts in the NFL are not guaranteed, so who cares if you give a guy a 10 year contract?Just curious if there were repercussions to this that I didn't know about. The non-guarantee of the contract is exactly why players demand high signing bonuses. In a case like Anderson, he would probably want more of the money up-front in exchange for smaller annual salaries, just to make it more likely that he would play through most of the contract. The Eagles have done the opposite - where they've negotiated shorter contracts, agreed on the guarantee, and then just added fluff years to the end (with the players' consent of course) so it would help their cap. I think this was part of the reason TO was so pissed. He signed a 6 or 7 year deal, but because of the relatively low up-front money he got, they could have cut him after year 2 and not taken a big cap hit. FiddySicks
Ugggh. Where the hell is Tampa? Any team that is nearly $45 Million under the cap should have at least some sort of vested interest from a top FA or two.
