Then again, the Rays seem to be more comfortable as the underdogs, and they are favored (at least I would imagine they are, I haven't looked too far into it), so who knows...

Hey pal, I recently read in Yahoo Sports that Las Vegas odds favored Tampa Bay to win the World Series and would owe huge payouts if the Rays prevail.

Is it just me or does it seem like the best looking World Series are always the ones that everyone is worried about getting :censored:ty ratings?

Fu*k ratings.

I don't think this is one of the better looking World Series' though. I'm slightly pulling for the Phillies, very much pulling for seven games, but I can't shake this nagging feeling it'll be Rays in five. Then again, the Rays seem to be more comfortable as the underdogs, and they are favored (at least I would imagine they are, I haven't looked too far into it), so who knows...

How could it not be one of the better looking Series? I mean seriously, just because Tampa isnt going to bring in the type of pizazz and star power another team could dosent make it a bad looking series. One of the best stanley cups I ever saw was Calgary and Tampa Bay a couple of years ago, hardly any star power or market behind it (not to meantion tv ratings) but possibly the greatest best of 7 series ive seen in any sport. And the reason being was that thier styles were much of the same, so it was a push the whole series. Thats what i see in this one, two teams with perfect blends of speed, smarts and power. And both have great depth, when thier top contributers dont contribute, both have unsung heroes to pick them up. The Phillies have Victorino, Stairs and Werth, the Rays have Price, Aybar and Baldelli. Both have great leaders in Crawford and Utley to be excactly that - leaders - and both have great, smart, intellegent managers in Maddon and Manuel working in the dugouts. It's basically even. This is far from a bad looking series. Rays in 7.

And with that one statement, you took me from applauding a great post, to having to question if you've ever watched a Phillies game. "Great", "smart", and "intelligent" are three words that should never appear in the same sentence with Charlie Manuel - unless the sentence is "Charlie Manuel is neither great, nor smart, nor intelligent."

Ah, but the rest you said was a great post :P thanks for that lol.

Well maybe traditionally Manuel hasnt been, but youve got to admit he's done one heck of a job this year, you cant deny that.

And you gotta admit too that i was dead on with Maddon :D

I'm sorry, Tampa fans, but this is one title that you guys really, really don't deserve more than us. You got to your Super Bowl ring over us in '03, you got to your Stanley Cup over us in '04. You ain't gonna suck it for ten years and then show up expecting to win a World Series. Uh-uh.

It's our turn. It's our year. We're going to win. There. I said it.

Until a fan gets an at bat or throws a pitch, none of them deserve it.

I agree. It's about the players, not the fans. No fan "deserves" a title, they just deserve to get excited when their team wins.

Fine.

Whatever that is, we deserve it more than Tampa does.

Phillies in 5

I'd praise you for your cojones, but the series is already two games over. Why don't you make your picks before the start of the series like everyone else?

Maybe he just forgot. Let's give the benefit of the doubt and make this a kinder, gentler CCSLC.

I fail to see how Philly "Deserves" the series more than Tampa. So are you telling me because Philly has been straight up PWN3D by Tampa lately that you some how "Deserve" a title more than them? How does that work? If you walk away with 4 wins, then yeah, you obviously "Deserve" the title more than Tampa. But if not, you obviously don't.

They are starting at 10 o'clock? Is FOX that desperate not to mess with their schedule that they are pretty much forcing this game to be played tonight and starting at 10pm local time. This is a joke the game should have been post-poned this afternoon before people even started to arrive.

No... I'm saying that a team that was largely ignored by all of baseball doesn't deserve to win a title in its first foray into playoff baseball.

I'm not saying they don't deserve to be there... they do. They just don't deserve to win this season.

The players deserve it. The fans... don't. The die-hards, the ones who've been there since day one, do... but they're a very big minority.

As far as whether fans "deserve" anything -- the fans pour the money into the game. The fans buy the $7 beers, $6 hot dogs, $100+ jerseys, $60 hoodies, etc., etc., etc. And when they do so continually, and loyally follow the team, through the best years and the worst, through 25 years of not seeing a professional sports championship in that city... then yeah, they do deserve it in my opinion. I saw firsthand how the Rays were perceived before this season -- Phillies fans deserve to see their team win a Championship, in my opinion.

Mohawks, mullets, and cowbells have no place in a World Series. Funny - they're so "excited", yet didn't know that there was a team in town (other than the ST teams) until a couple of weeks ago.

If you had just stopped right there, I would have to agree with you. ^_^ Any team that win the necessary games deserve to win a title. I don't care if they get 40, 000 fans a game or 5, 000 fans a game. Maybe you can debate whether Tampa Bay deserves a team in the first place, but that's a different subject.

I saw, I came, I left.

Considering they won the AL East, beat the Sox in 7 in the ALCS, and did this DESPITE the fact that they were so largely ignored, they "Deserve" to win just as much as the Phils. And if they win three more games they'll show just how much they "Deserve" the title. I mean come on man, I understand you're a Phils fan and REALLY want your team to win, but your argument makes no sense.

I'm saying the players deserve to win all the same. Maybe the Rays more, even, considering their division.

I just don't think that fans don't deserve to see their team win. I think fans who pour their money, and their heart into their team deserve to see them win, in some regard, anyway. And that's where I side with the Phillies. I have nothing against either team (I'm not bitter the Rays beat the Sox, I don't care about the mini-rivalry that's begun to grow between the teams... the Rays, right down to their manager, are a very likable team, even to me) -- so in deciding who to pull for, I'm siding with the fans who've been fans through thick and thin over those who have only been fans since mid-summer.

The way I see it, fan's will always feel their team deserves it more than the next. But in the end the team who deserves it the most is the team who wins it all. Who is the best team right now, they're playing for that right now. If the Rays win it they deserved it, if the Phillies win it then they deserved it.
