Now they are asking for suggestions on what the name of the team should be. You can suggest a name here. Of course, my suggestion was for Black Swamp Bullfrogs, after my concept that I did a while back. It would be awesome if my concept became reality (I can dream can't I?). Burning River Posted October 23, 2008 Share Posted October 23, 2008 I think they dropped the whole "Woodpeckers" thing. They relaized that it was going to open too many doors of negativity. Their newspaper is called the "Toledo Blade", so that is most likely out. OR a great advertising opportunity. The old arena i believe was nick-named "Riverdome". As it sat fairly close to the Maumee River. The new arena is downtown a few blocks from the Maumee River. Maumee State Park is at Lake Erie. My understanding is that they wanted something to go along with Walleye regarding a "sportsman/outdoorsman" theme. I think SwampFrogs or RiverFrogs as a theme could be a possibility. I suggested "Snappers" as in Snapping Turtles. It ties in to Walleye and Lake Erie. Plus "snap" is a football term. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
