TFoA
So let's see: Burnett gets a deal from the Braves, uses that deal to get a blockbuster from the Yankees. Furcal basically says "I'm coming to Atlanta," only to say "Oh, yeah, I was just using you guys to get more money from the Dodgers. Sorry. " Now Griffey basically brings us into the conversation for a few days, INITIATES CONTACT WITH US, reports come in that he's a Brave, only to do this.Once again, I know that this is not the Griffey of 1999...but that. all 3 of those dudes. Unless we either get Garrett Anderson, Swisher, or any other decent LF, this will have been the worst offseason in a while, even with Lowe & Kawakami. The gutpunches that the Braves have gotten this Winter had better be worth it.

TFoA
From Mark Bowman:Sources have indicated that Griffey's tide turned shortly after he became upset with the fact that The Atlanta-Journal Constitution was reporting that he'd already decided to play for the BravesAJC once again proving how much they suck. Brendan
I don't really have a favorite baseball team, but if I had to pick one it would be the Mariners. That being said Griffey is stupid to sign with Mariners. The guys in the twilight of his career and I'm sure he wants a ring, and that seem highly unlikely with the Mariners. But hey maybe the guy just wants to go to a place where he's comfortable and loved and he can get the most out of his last years.

JayJaxon
I honestly can't believe this nightmare of an offseason the Braves have had with signing players. Is it because of Frank Wren? It's gotta be something.
Erik121
I thought it was pretty crappy. The "neighborhood/ballpark village" backdrop was a contrivance. A video on youtube, "Ghost Ride the Whip for the Oakland A's," I believe it was, called Fremont "basically a parking lot with a mayor." Also, the location was nearly impossible to reach via public transit, requiring a series of trains, shuttle buses, and pedestrian bridges to get to the park. ALSO, it was only designed to hold 34,000 people, which is unwise considering that you'd like to think one day you'll be able to draw 40,000 to an A's game. What happens if things change in 15, 20 years and the A's become the hottest ticket in Bay Area sports? Will they have to build a new downtown ballpark with more seating? The whole thing never impressed me.I understand the Oakland Coliseum has its faults. The luxury boxes are surely insufficient, the concession stands are probably mediocre (though needing to offer more than ballpark fare never struck me as particularly important...go out to dinner somewhere, guys), Mount Davis is an eyesore, the first few rows of seats don't face home plate (though this does give the A's a competitive advantage as their infielders can devour foul pop flies in that huge space), the Raiders tear the field up, so on, so forth. It's still a decent place to see or play baseball, though. And almost from the outset, I could tell Cisco Field was never gonna work. Here is the link to that video: It is a classic...anyways on topic...Even though I can't stand the A's they really do need a new home. That park is just a big concrete mess. I think that they could get away with a remodel sort of like the Angels did when Disney took over and changed the Big A in the late 90's, but it would have to be drastic. Mount Davis needs to fall. StarrDogg
When it comes to new venues being built in the Bay Area. Forget it. No new A's stadium, no new 49ers stadium, no new Raiders stadium. It will not happen. This is the Bay Area. Home of wacky politics.
