gosioux76
I don't think the stripes are that noticeable to anyone other than us. My biggest problem is the font used on the nameplate. For some reason it just looks off to me.
Harmening
So the 49ers are playing the Broncos tonight, their first game in the new unis. At the unveiling I was cautiously happy with what they came out with, but seeing them on the field really changed my mind. They're an absolute mess. The black outline in the logo looks COMPLETELY out of place now, and the shade of gold in the pants and helmets are WAY off, and the stripes look absolutely ridiculous. They went from having a very nice and clean (a bit uninspiring, yes, but that could've been easily fixed) look to a really bad one. MAJOR downgrade.I agree, very dissapointing. If they changed the facemask to red then the helmet logo would work...the uniform would not look outdated, and the uniform would look overall really sharp! I actually prefer it over what they have had with the busy numbers and all of that black...but it is nowhere near perfect
Hat Boy
If they changed the facemask to red then the helmet logo would work...You would still have black on the logo when there is no trace of it anywhere else on the uniform. A gray facemask is not the problem (it's never the problem).

Note to all - both the Cowboys classic home set and the 49ers classic set debuted the same year (1964) and they are essentially the same template. The original Cowboys road in 64 had three stripes on the jersey and the number on the shoulder pads. Memo to Colorwerx wherever you are - the pants don't look the same as last year (is it a different material?) - it looks either duller (less shinier) or slightly darker - but not the same as the classic set. Looking at the style guide, the gold tone of the helmet changed and the pants I guess are supposed to match meaning that they are a different shade from last year. LMU
I finally figured out what the sleeve stripes remind me of.They look like the jersey was thrown into the drier one two many times, and the silk screening is peeling off.

njmeadowlanders
I caught them in action on NFL network, and I'm a big fan.And seeing them on the players, the sleeve stripes are kind of neat. The way they're printed on replicas still suck though.

Leather helmets and canvas pants would probably be an improvement to you It is a big improvement...Who wants hard to read customized number fonts, half-moons, crescents, horns, side stripes that absolutely go nowhere and everywhere where it shouldn't be going (Boise State, Jacksonville Jaguars), and black when there is no need for black (hear that Oakland A's???).... No one criticizes the Yankees for not adding another color... The only two criticisms of this uniform I have are the sleeve stripes. Simply move it up like they did with the throwbacks (the half-stripes were mainly a fan plus player decision). Also the white shoes look better with this set than the black ones. rainmaker17
The numbers look too big to me. I agree with the shoe comment, with this set they should be white. Otherwise it's ok.

Brave-Bird 08
you know, the big problem is the team did not go through any rebranding at all really. on top with the new uniforms, it feels like they are just wearing throwbacks every night.the panels on the walls of the stadium and the field art still use the "cherry" color and the black outlines. after noticing that it really started to bug me. 49'ers need to do two things and I will be fine:1) change the facemask to red2) officially change the script to the script under the collar of the jerseys, and officially change the colors so the stadium and merchandise can look correct.or maybe the stadium just hasnt gotten around to that part yet?? anyways, it needs to be done. I definitely prefer the new uniform over the old one, even if it has a few flaws
Harmening
The mismatched golds and weird sleeve stripes stood out to me. They also stood out to my wife, who couldn't give a rat's ass about uniforms. She asked me what the heck was wrong with the quarterback's sleeves. It does look a little odd watching it on TV. The city of San Francisco owns the stadium and getting them to move on things is quite frustrating. The 49ers are conscientious of their brand and their history in the NFL - but that is an excellent observation and an oversight on the part of the team's ownership.
