For all of those "reallignment/relocation" marks, take Las Vegas off your lists immediately.

From October, The City Ends Arena Development Talks

The Las Vegas City Council today officially terminated the Las Vegas Events Center Request for Proposal process. This brings to an end the 14-month negotiation between the council and REI Neon, the group that was chosen as the preferred arena developer. REI Neon had announced plans to build the arena as part of a $10.5 billion mixed-use development on Main Street and Charleston Boulevard downtown. In the agenda summary page, city officials cited the softening economy and difficulty in securing equity for the project as reasons why REI Neon could not deliver on its proposal. By terminating the request for proposal, the city has no further liability to the agreement or any of its components.

Entire REI Neon Development Project in Jeopardy

Although the City Council formally ended REI Neon?s quest to build an arena in October, the future of the ?gaming overlay district,? which would allow casinos on the site, is unclear. At his most recent weekly news conference, the mayor said city officials had told him the gaming district remains intact, even though REI Neon?s project is dead. Goodman added that although the project was the reason the City Council approved the gaming district, he would ?love to see more casinos in that area.?

Critics of the plan, however, have sued, arguing the gaming district shouldn?t outlive the project. The future of the gaming district could be decided when District Court Judge Linda Bell hears a lawsuit over the matter on Aug. 11.

So there's really no hope of seeing a relocating or expansion NBA franchise in Vegas in the foreseeable future!!!

So will the Kings end up moving back to Kansas City instead of Vegas?

I'm not up-to-date on the Kings arena situation there in Sac-Town, but have they been talking seriously about moving back to Kansas City or anywhere else?

Talks have been heating up (semi) recently about building a new arena near Cal Expo. I personally feel that would be the dumbest move they could make, but at least it'd keep the Kings in town (I personally would love to see them on the next Mayflower truck outta here, though).

I've always thought that the whole thing about the Kings moving to Las Vegas was more the Maloofs wanting to keep all their assets in the same city then actual talk. I do know that they were trying to get a new arena in Sacramento a year or two ago and failed, so the Kings are probably looking at some other cities.

If you want eve more fun, read this story from "The Atlantic" monthly on the Sprint Center.

The $220M Empty Arena

Mayor Mark Funkhouser, formerly the city auditor, had struggled to understand how spending $222 million on an arena made economic sense. ?Now that I?ve inherited it,? he says, ?I tell people it?s a shotgun wedding, but I have to make the marriage work. And if you look at it just in terms of the performance of the facility itself, it has exceeded expectations. It?s shiny and new. People like it.?

Cavs and Leon Powe agree to a two year deal, about $1.77 million [the league minimum for vets.]

Nice pick up, especially if his knee heals to 100%

He was also a teammate of LeBron's, back in his AAU days.

Quentin Richardson traded... AGAIN!

To the Heat... for Mark Blount.

And considering the lack of depth the Heat have, it would seem Q-Rich will finally stick to a team.

What is this, his fifth team this offseason??

If you get traded to a team, but then they traded you again before the preseason even started, were you ever really a part of that team? :P

I don't believe so. He was never formally introduced to the teams he was traded to, also there are no stats for him for those teams since he obviously didn't play a single game for them.

Kinda like how Gary Payton (I think it was him) was traded to the Hawks, only to get released like an hour later after the trade, then was re-claimed by the team that traded him to the Hawks a month later....

The Hawks have reportedly signed F/C Joe Smith.

If true, then I am stoked. The Hawks finally have depth at the F/C position. It's been a pretty good offseason for the Hawks. They re-signed Marvin Williams, kept the core intact for the most part, and are probably going to continue the trend of improving just by getting closer to their prime. Whether it'll be good enough to crack the Top 3 in the East, idk. But I think they'll close the gap compared to last year where the gap between #3 in the East and the Hawks was like a gulf. Now it'll probably be a pond. :P

I can't wait 'til November (unless they aren't done yet.)

Did Richardson even bother unpacking a suitcase or even looking for homes in the cities he was dealt?

Maybe not unpacking, because he should be at home. But if he never even had press conferences for each team, did they call him and tell him to not bother flying out for a meeting?

I'm kinda curious about how his summer went and the communication with the teams.

I love his quote......

"I look at it like this: There are a lot more people worse off than I am. OK, I got traded a few times, but at the same time my contract is guaranteed, I have financial stability at a time in the world where there is not a whole lot of financial stability going on," he said. "I'm blessed. I look at the bright side of all the situations I'm in. I have a best friend and he's going overseas to try to sign a contract that's nowhere near mine. So why would I be complaining because I got traded a few times?

"I'm in the NBA and living a pretty comfortable lifestyle compared to most of the world. I don't get caught up with being moved because of my contract. At the end of the day, I'm still playing the game I love to play. I'm still getting paid for it and I feel I have the best job ever. I would be playing basketball if I was getting paid or not."
