Am I the only one who thinks Notre Dame looks like a bunch of whiny little school girls for not accepting a lower level bowl? So you had a .500 season, quit acting so spoiled.

Its different with the dismissal of Weis, accepting a bowl would mean they would need an interim coach and to disrupt their recruting and coach search efforts.

as for Ohio State's opponent in the Rose Bowl, I'm hoping for Oregon to beat Oregon State for the very simple reason that an Oregon christmas cookie would be easier to create than an Oregon State christmas cookie. Plus, Oregon would allow me to create 4 cookies, one for each of the possible helmets they might wear. Making OSU and OSU's bowl game matchup cookies has been a personal tradition dating back to the 2003 Fiesta Bowl.

That game last night pained me. I really wanted to see Oregon State win. It was a great game, but I now live in a world where I have to root for Ohio State to win the Rose Bowl.

OK, as a fellow Washington fan, I do admit that I'm not that fond of the Ducks myself. They have a bit of an attitude about themselves, but that's another story.

But, to say that you'd rather root for the Big Ten in the Rose Bowl?!? I'd ought to tar and feather your ass for such a comment, Jimmy. Everyone and their mothers know that Ohio State ends up running back to Columbus with their tails between their legs every time bowl season comes around and guess what? Same old story, just with a different verse.

Go Pac-10!

Not for nothing you sanctimonious blowhard but Ohio State's bowl record in the last 10 years is just a bit better than Washington's. Of course it helps when you're actually good enough to get a bowl bid. How have The Huskies done with bowl games in that span? How does 1-4 sound to you? And let's not forget that Washington hasn't been within shouting distance of a bowl bid since 2002. Just for fun, do you remember the last time your mighty Huskies played Ohio State? Let me refresh your memory. We came out there in 2007 and handed you your asses 33-14. Do you really think you have a leg to stand on in this debate? Granted, we lost back to back NC games but at least we got there to lose them.

Of course you're rooting for The Pac-10. It's the only thing you've got. :D

(For the record WillMorris, I am not being a homer here. I am just having fun talking some smack.)

If I did have a leg to stand on, you pretty much took it and forced me to land on my rear end.

You don't think I realize that it's been seven long years since Washington earned a bowl bid? Just because I talk a lot of smack doesn't mean I don't know what is going on out there. It doesn't help that they've been through three coaches in that seven year span (Neuheisel, Willingham and now Sarkisian) or had to suffer through what was the worst season ever last year. Of course with you being an Ohio State fan you never had to deal with constant coaching changes or a winless season. This is a tough time for all Huskie fans because there hasn't been this kind of problems running through the program.

Oh, and for the record: I'd like to blame Ohio State, Oklahoma and LSU for being the reason why Washington caved in and forced themselves to play I-AA Eastern Washington next season. :P

It's all in jest. We're just having fun. I like Washington. Any team that beats USC is fine by me.

I'm going to Detroit tonight for the MAC championship game. Pictures to come.

I somehow lost my camera in my buddy's car on the trip to Ford Field so no pictures, but I still had a great time. In my first trip to the MAC championship game in 2006, OU had three QB's injured and couldn't complete a pass. Dan Lefevour torched them and it wasn't even close. In this game, Dan Lefevour still torched them, but the defense held in some tough situations. It was a much closer and tough game than 2006 and OU definitely had their chances. If there was one moment where they lost it was when Theo Scott took a sack on third and long placing the ball out of field goal range. The most frustrating part was that Central Michigan didn't play their best, but OU couldn't capitalize and they didn't play well either. They couldn't tackle my sister last night and Lefevour made some big plays after breaking a tackle several times. Dan Lefevour has some next level talent, I wouldn't be surprised to see him do well down the road.

Still, I had a great time. The atmosphere was incredible despite people only sitting in the lower bowl. Ford Field is a really nice facility, it's a shame they can't fill it with an NFL team worthy to play there.

When you go to a school in the MAC pretty much the best you can hope for is a conference championship. In my 4 years we've been to the championship game twice and though we lost to Central Michigan both times not many MAC schools can say that. We still have one of the best coaches in the conference (Frank Solich) and he doesn't seem like he's going to leave anytime soon. I wouldn't be surprised if the Ohio Bobcats win one of these in the next few years.

That might have meant something had the Huskies been good that year, or the next year, or the year after that.

So if this holds, all we need is Texas to lose to Nebraska to see a Florida-Alabama rematch in the final. I just can't see a 12-0 TCU team passing a 12-1 Bama or Florida team. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see it, but I don't think it will happen. Reputation matters, remember.

Then again, certain people (not naming names) would be clamoring to get Ohio State in the national title game.

You cherry picked my post. When it's out of context the part about beating Washington looks silly. Especially so when you consider the fact that your statement is a lot like me saying "well Florida beating Ohio State in the 2006 title might have meant something if Florida weren't so much better than Ohio State." :D

I'm pretty sure that the win against Washington still counted. Last I checked, a win is a win.

Goodnight Cincinnati. So will Pitt go the Orange Bowl to play the Clemson/G-Tech winner or to the Sugar to play the Florida/Alabama loser.

I know it won't happen but a Penn State-Pitt Fiesta Bowl would be sweet. JoPa would be forced to play Pitt.

This thing ain't over yet. Dave Wannstedt is involved. That alone should give Bearcats fans plenty of hope.

You're wrong. If Nebraska beats Texas I guarantee that TCU will be in the title game if for no other reason than a world where one of your asinine ideas actually comes to fruition simply cannot exist. It would be the equivalent of waking up tomorrow and finding out 2+2 = a bowling ball.

And I'm still waiting for that post to prove your allegation that I am an Ohio State homer. :P

You don't expect TCU to suddenly drop in the Coaches poll this week? Coaches will protect their own.

Besides, I don't need to prove the truth.

They'll protect their own hides first, and the BCS money tree second. Shutting TCU out of a title game in that scenario pretty much obligates Congress to intervene and end the fun for everyone.

Is anyone else tired of seeing the Cincinnati fan in the red Guy Fawkes mask? I know the game is in Pitt, but aren't there other Bearcats fans at the game?

Oh I know. I was just razzing. But you have to admit, it's a little funny reading that. "We beat Washington!" So did nine other teams that year.

you're :censored:ing bat :censored: crazy. I don't know why this fires me up because it's not about me, but Infrared has never said anything that would paint him an Ohio State homer. He's a fan, not a homer and a fan believe it or not actually roots for their team to do well. As far as OSU fans go, he's pretty realistic about the team and has not said anything about OSU being in the NCG in the last two months. Second, when in the last two months has any Ohio State fan clamored for the Buckeyes being in the NCG? Never. We understand that they don't deserve it.

Third, Your scenario of a texas loss setting up a rematch of Alabama-Florida is more insane than the people calling for an Ohio State-Michigan rematch a few years ago. The alabama-florida matchup is on a neutral field so it's about as fair an environment as you can get. They're the best two teams in the nation and the winner will probably win the whole thing. What is the point of playing the game again? What would a rematch of that game prove? Nothing. If Florida and Alabama split then we're in a bigger mess than we're in now. There is no need to play a rematch in another neutral field as they both get an equal shot at the NCG today. You can't see it not happening because you're insane, the voters aren't as stupid.

I shouldn't waste my time. You probably won't even read this, you're the dennisbergan of the NCAA football thread. You have your crazy opinions and nothing will get you to think differently.

edit: UC just tied it. This game is crazy and Mardy Gilyard is the man. If they can hold on and Texas loses then the Bearcats should go to the NCG because they're actually in a BCS conference. Though, it's becoming apparent that the Big East gets a BCS bowl bid unless it's the national championship game.

You think the pressure's on today?

Houston has messed up 3 PAT's in the Conference USA championship game, Cincinnati's missed a PAT earlier, and now Pitt has bungled the snap on their go-ahead PAT attempt, leaving the margain at 6 points. A touchdown with an extra point now wins the game for Cincinnati.

This is exactly why we'll never see a playoff.
