I think the offense could possibly surprise some people. Obviously, Calvin Johnson is a beast. That combination of size, speed, hands, agility, and jumping ability is ridiculous, and on top of that, he is humble and has a great work ethic. 12 Tds last year, with those QBs and no other threats at receiver is crazy. He should have been in the Pro Bowl last year easily. Kevin Smith also played much better in the second half of last year, which will hopefully carry over. Culpepper should be much better than last year if he starts, since he didn't come in mid-season, and has lost a bunch of weight. Brandon Pettigrew gives Culpepper or Stafford another big target and is a very good blocker. The receivers other than CJ are at least a little bit better than last year.

That's great.

Scott Linebaka is calling the shots.

(I hope you like stalled out red zone drives and figgie attempts.)

I can't wait for the season to start, even as a Lions fan. :P

Now on defense, they can't be worse than in '08. The defensive line scares me, and the corners aren't the greatest either. The linebacker corps should be very good though, with the acquisitions of Julian Peterson and Larry Foote to go along with Ernie Sims. That is very solid, IMO. Safeties should be alright with Daniel Bullocks and rookie Louis Delmas, who I think will be a very good player. All in all, I don't expect much out of the defense, but I expect better than last year. I think I am going to go with 6 wins for my prediction.

Stop it, you're giving me hope :P

Training Camp started for the Detroit Lions on Saturday... and all sources say that Matthew Stafford was overachieving.

Ahh... Another great year of Lions football!

The great thing in all this is that Jim Schwartz showed the pics to the entire team during the team's first meeting... I really like Jim Schwartz.

Looks like he's doing just fine to me.

Oh, you mean his football prowess....

He's young, rich, and on top of the world right now.

What the hell else is he supposed to do?

:censored:, if that were me, I'd have like 10 sex tapes out there (besides the fact that I'd be on the tape, but with the type of women I like, ya'll probably wouldn't want to see 'em anyway). :P

lol... I don't think anyone has an issue with it... but it goes without saying that he wouldn't be getting that kind of action if he didn't have 40 mil guaranteed.

Yet, anything is better than this:

Sig bet, I'm in. We going straight up results of the two Saints-Falcons games, best records overall, what?

Since the basis of discussion deals with the regular season, let's do overall record.

Interesting. So your team or my team could get swept by the other and still win? Hmmm...

We also need to determine the time period during which the loser has to display the sig. A week seems fair, yes?

Vikings will obviously be thrown in to the Vick sweepstakes even if they don't want to be.

I could see Vick in Houston backing up Schaub, maybe Arizona to battle it out with Leinart to see who starts after Warner retires

Read something on azcentral this morning where the Cards stated they were not interested in Vick as they have 2 quality quarterbacks

Matt Leinart?.... "Quality"?

Say what you want, but past couple seasons I say he has grown, learning from a great teacher from Kurt Warner and him conditioning himself to be stronger both physically and mentally, I do believe when Warner retires and Leinart finally takes the reigns, I won't be dissapointed. Wisenhunt wouldn't have kept him if he didn't believe in him.

As I was saying....

Leinart battling with Brian St. Pierre for Cards' backup role

I really have to see how Leinart does after Kurt is gone to really judge if he's the real deal or not. He started off pretty shaky but at times showed flashes of brilliance. I can't see how sitting behind a quarterback who's started three Super Bowls can do anything but help him out. I guess next year is gonna be the real test for him.

NFL Network probably needs to open up a Vick Watch soon

Packers GM Ted Thompson not ruling out the possibility of signing Vick

I'd be really in favor of this possible move Brohm and Flynn aren't proven backups and Vick could step in and fill the void if Rodgers goes down.

I'm in favor, if only to throw Vick in the Wildcat in Madden 10.

And you know what's funny about that? As I was going, in my mind, through all the teams west of the Mississippi on which Vick could land, Green Bay was one of the ones that stuck out in my mind. If there is ANY team out there with which Vick could a/ be accepted and b/ succeed, it'd be the Packers. This is why I think that: I can't think of any team in ANY pro sport with anywhere near as much of a "homely" feel as the Packers--which isn't too hard to believe considering the community basically owns the team and, as I understand it, the residents of the community also own stock in the franchise(?). I'm inclined to think that as long as Vick keeps himself righteous and starts having success, Packer Nation would be more than willing to accept them as one of their own, would they not? (Can someone in Packerland help me with this one here?)

Not to mention it's one of the smallest media markets out there (not that it mattered much when Brat was still there), so I'd think (and I may be wrong) that the around-the-clock press wouldn't be as, well, pressing, as it would be on the East Coast or out in L.A. And actually, I myself wouldn't mind seeing Vick suit up in the Packer green and gold...if only to see him against my Buccaneers later in the year at the throwback game in November. ^_^

*Disclaimer: I am not an authoritative expert on stuff...I just do a lot of reading and research and keep in close connect with a bunch of people who are authoritative experts on stuff. 😁

Our difference of opinion is based over the entirity of the season, not just the two Falcons-Saints games. Plus, the possibility of the teams splitting the games is higher than the two teams finishing with identical records.

If neither team makes the playoffs, the sigs will be up for a week. If one makes it and the Saints other team doesn't, the sig stays up for the entirity of their playoff existance.

My gut tells me the chance of signing Vick is slim to none. Packer fans will embrace anyone who succeeds on the field *AND* behaves off the field. Dog fighting aside, I seriously doubt fans would want a marijuana-smoking perceived troublemaker. I look at the Nick Barnett troubles between his domestic assault charge at a local bar and the troubles linked to his club in downtown GB. After a while, he closed the club because the hurdles local govt. put in place weren't worth the hassle. When you play in GB, charity events is really the only thing most players can be involved in outside of football.

Personally, I'd rather they didn't sign Vick. The Pack had enough drama with Favre. The fans could use a break.
