Blue Falcon
Found this on the Browns' chat board: "The Browns intend to wear brown pants and white jerseys on the road all season. Mangini said he decided on the radical look because he thought it looked good "and the guys felt the same way." Players also find the brown pants more comfortable and less restrictive because of the absence of a stripe down the legs."Anyone ever heard of stripes on the pants not being comfortable before?? DustDevil61
Pure BS.Seriously, when you get schellacked by Denver when they're in the situation that they're in (losing Cutler, etc.), you're going to have a long year. Add to that the fact that they still don't quite know who their starting QB is and having to play defending Super Bowl champ Pittsburgh twice, then I would say that those brown liatards (sp?) are being worn to cover the mess in their pants, just like the sea captain that wore the red vest to conceal his bleeding if he was shot. This is similar to why we now have the Seattle liatard look--just a matter of comfort. And here I was thinking that something so trivial would pass the minds of football players--how wrong I was. http://i.imgur.com/Pyc5qRH.gifhttp://i.imgur.com/RDXvxFE.gif LED Sig Credits to packerfan21396
andrewharrington
Surely you mean 'leotard.' Anyway, the stripe is apparently made of a more rigid, knit-like material that does not stretch quite as comfortably over the legs as the thinner, more elastic material that the main body of the pants are constructed of. I still don't have a website, but I have a dribbble now! http://dribbble.com/andyharry [The postings on this site are my own and do not necessarily represent the position, strategy or opinions of adidas and/or its brands.]

njmeadowlanders
I'm glad to see that's what he's worrying about when he's not fining his players $1,700 for assuming a bottle of water from a hotel room would've been charged to the team...Good riddance. Strangely, Brady Quinn mentioned it during the preseason - that the stripe was somehow restrictive. This appears to be the party line with the team. So if they go 0-8 at home, you know, uh, blame the stripes on their pants. In 5..4..3..2..1
At first the Brown pants looked bad last year but something as simple as pairing them with the white striped socks makes all the difference. I like how they look in the Brown pants with the exception that everyone's pants look a size too small. I know this is common practice among WR's and CB's(not that I agree with that either) but everyones look like that.

BBTV
Instead of the ridgid-elastic material, maybe they could just make the stripe thin layers of spandex that would stretch just like the rest of the pants? Or somehow sublimate or screen a stripe on there? TrueYankee26
Brown is the color that describes the Browns play. They played like crap. Maybe they should stop wearing brown pants. trueyankee26.wordpress.com
FiddySicks
I only played ball in high school so I can't act like I know exactly how the Browns pants fit, bit I will say that stripeless shiny spandex pants are a lot more comfortable, flexible, and even cooler than the older style pants with stripes down the side. Coast2CoastAM2006
glad to see they are going to the shat their pants look. Pretty appropriate considering when they face the Steelers, they are going to their pants.Me thinks this has more to do with Mangini talking to a flaming pile of dog poo better known as the play of the Browns since comming back to the NFL. Spoilers!

First off, I would still caution against underestimating the Broncos After all they beat the stripeless Browns, even with those ghastly weird stripes down there pants. I think the Browns are at the stage where their pants are not the difference between winning and losing. Personally I think the Brown pants and orange helmets look bad together, oddly worse than a brown jersey and orange helmets. 2011/12 WFL Champions
