nyk
Like Cowboys Stadium, they are waiting for the right sponsorship, til then is will be called "Meadowlands Stadium" There were talks last year with Allianz, a financial services company based in Germany but thr proposal sparked protests from New York's Jewish community and the Anti-Defamation League, which opposed the move due to close ties in the past between Allianz and the government of Nazi Germany during World War IIMeadowlands will have Gate sponsors which are MetLife, Verizon, Budweiser, and Pepsi. Each will have branding on the stadium's facade outside and more than likely inside above one of the four corner jumbotrons.

dfwabel
Will it be called American Express Field or Vince Lombardi Stadium? Why would AMEX sponsor a stadium as their income has gone down and they have been cutting the credit limits of small businesses and personal card holders for the last 18 months? Even those who have good credit have issues getting credit with AMEX or even affinity cards (like Platinum or The Black Card). AMEX business cards have had limits cut by 65%! Plus AMEX is just coming off the bankruptcy of Delta in which they held a large share for over four years before May 2009 when Delta came out. AMEX Q3 ReoprtFrom the report:"Net income totaled $640 million for the quarter, down 21 percent from $815million a year ago. Diluted per-share net income of $0.53 was down 24 percentfrom $0.70 a year ago. Excluding the non-recurring benefit mentioned above, adjusted diluted per-share net income was $0.43.2Consolidated revenues net of interest expense declined 16 percent to $6.0billion, down from $7.2 billion a year ago. Consolidated provisions for losses totaled $1.2 billion, down 13 percent from$1.4 billion a year ago."
TFoA
I guess it'll make sense for them to name it as Meadowlands Stadium, mainly because IIRC the NFL refers to Giants Stadium as The Meadowlands when the Jets are hosting (compared to whenever the Giants themselves are hosting.) So that'd help the NFL so that they'd only have to call the home of the Giants & Jets just one name instead of calling it something different depending on who's at home.So yeah, Meadowlands Stadium would be a fitting name & probably will be the name until the economy turns around & sponsors have money to blow on naming deals. njmeadowlanders
While that's true, it'll still feel like sharing a bunk bed with your older brother.Sort of...but let's be honest. There really is zero need for two separate NFL stadiums. They're used for their primary purpose 10 times a season. They've managed to share one for 26 seasons, there's not any problems with doing so. There is no reason why the Jets and Giants need to be home on the same day. Furthermore, that would prevent ANY other game from being on in the NY market unless one was a Sunday or Monday night game if they were to be home on the same day, since the Jets and Giants can't play at the same time and you can't air another game against a Jet/Giant home game (this season an exception b/c of Yom Kippur and the Eagles moving a start time to accomodate the World Series) unless they play each other, and they haven't before this season since 1984. Oh yes Xanadu, one of the worst movies ever made, and you name an entertainment center/mall after it. Not only that said mall is bankrupting the state and hemoring money. Said malll is an absolute total eye sore. I swear it is the ugliest thing in the world.I can not wait to the Xanadu trials and all the rats it takes down with it. And the funny thing is its opening has been delayed forever, and some say it may never open. Oh well I did not want to go skiing indoors in July any way. www.sportsecyclopedia.com For the best in sports history go to the Sports E-Cyclopedia at http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com
