Foul or Home Run baseballs

I went to Surpise, Arizona, to catch the Rangers host the White Sox. In the 8th inning, I got a foul ball! I didn't catch the ball; the ball landed in my row after hitting somebody a row or 2 higher. (I was sitting on the lowest row of section 121 at the Surprise ballpark.)

Have you fellow fans have the opportunity to acquire a game ball?

Though not a game ball my dad(who at the time was volunteering working concessions at Cinergy Field) caught a foul ball durring batting practice from Sean Casey. He easily had the ball as the park wasnt open to the public yet.

I missed a chance at catching a foul ball was when I saw the Reds play the Giants for my birthday in the 1995 season. The ball bounced off of my empty seat while my dad and I were in the bathroom. There was no chance that my mother or 5 year old sister were going to catch the ball. It's too bad we weren't there because now I think I'm at that age where I have to give the ball to the little kid sitting nearby.

At a Cubs-Indians spring training game last year at Hohokam park, a foul ball bounced through an opening in the sunroof/ceiling thing, and right into my moms lap.

However, this past monday, i caught one of the t-shirts that they drop down from parachutes at a Bulls-Rockets game. It was pretty awesome

I've caught a bunch at minor league games, but only one ball at a major league game. My cousin had Astros season tickets while working for Continental in Houston during the 2004 season and invited me to the Home Run Derby and All Star Game. During batting practice before the game I was sitting in the outfield seats behind right field with a bunch of other people when Barry Bonds hit one over my head. I figured it was headed to the upper deck but it hit the sign in between the upper and lower decks. I heard the noise and looked up to see the ball headed right towards me and I reacted just quick enough to catch it. Its a really cool ball too. Has the All Star Game logo and other markings in red and the stitching is brick and cream. My cousin ended up snagging a foul ball that Sosa hit later on in the day too.

I guess about nine years ago, my Dad got tickets to sit in the lower section behind the Ranger's dugout. Pudge Rodriguez hit a full count ball toward some people four rows down, and it hit off a guys head and into the floor in front of my Mom. I've only seen her dive once, and that was it. We still have it on the mantle place in our den. Otherwise, I have a foul ball that was hit off of Michael Choice's bat while at UTA this year.

2 Foul balls

1 Home Run

All in Pittsburgh

Missed out on another home run at an Indianapolis Indians game a few years ago. We were on a blanket in the outfield but my wife wanted to shift closer to some of her friends that happened to be there also. 3 innings later a HR hit in the exact spot we moved from.

Caught a BP home run ball hit by Rey Ordonez in 1998; extremely rare as he only hit 12 home runs in his 9 year MLB career.

In 2001 I had two foul balls tossed to me while sitting in the front row behind third base for a double-header in Toronto.

While working for the Jays I found all sorts of baseballs in the stands before the gates opened; some I'd give to kids at the game, others I'd bring home and use to play ball with.

Snagged a foul ball in 2005 when it bounced off a seat in front of me and landed next to me.

Scooped up a foul ball during a USA/Venezuela game at the 2009 World Baseball Classic when it was hit down the third base line, dropped my touque on the field and had to go back to pick it up

I was lucky enough to catch a home run ball in a trip I took this past summer to the New Yankee Stadium.

We went to the first 2 Subway series games against the Mets in the new stadium. During the second game I happened to get up to grab a couple of beers for me and my friends, I was walking back to my seat in right field while watching Mark Texiera at bat. He hit a shot to right and I watched the ball get closer to me as it was following me, it hit a couple of fans hands about 2 rows below me and popped right up over me. I turned around and was lucky enough to step on it(while holding onto the beers) on the stairs. I reached down and picked it up and got high-fives from fans around me for "multi-tasking". It was a great experience! My friends were all jealous that they didn't go for the beer run. Although the stadium has ridiculous gate prices it does offer the best views from the concourse that I'ver ever seen, it is a beautiful park with great ammenities.

I've also caught a foul ball at a Braves and Phillies Spring Training game a few years ago at the Disney Wide World of Sports Stadium, it was hit by Edgar Renteria.

I could have snagged a by screaming foul ball down the 3rd base line at a Sacramento River Cats (Lou Merloni!) game a couple summers ago. However, at the last second, I let it wiz by as I decided against having my barehand obliterated into a thousand tiny particles. ;)

I have got two foul balls at Bisons games, I didn't catch either one, they bounced off seats in my area and I went to pick it up.

However I am more proud of having gotten a puck that was thrown into the crowd by Marty Brodeur (i think) in practice before they played the Sabres.

I also was lucky enough to get a stick from Stu Barnes. I am not sure if it was ever used in a game or practice, especially since it is wood and I am not sure when the composite sticks came around. I was young, probably 8-9 and after during a morning skate my father and I were along the boards, after the practice Stu came over and handed me the stick over the glass. I was the happiest boy you would have ever seen after he gave that to me. I have it hanging up on the wall in my basement now.

I've caught two balls at batting practice. Well kinda, I caught a ground rule double and was the first to get to another ball. I've never caught a ball during a game, but came really close a couple of times.

Funny story, when I was in elementary school we got to go to a minor league baseball game. We had to use the buddy system back then so I asked a friend of mine to go with me to get some ice cream. As soon as we get in line, a foul ball bounces right to him. There were about 10 kids running after the ball. They all stopped and sighed as it went to the kid that didn't even see it hit. It was really a case of being at the right place at the right time.

I caught one in Batting Practice hit by Bo Jackson. I was able to get him to sign it before the game started.

My daughter's have gotten 2 balls tossed to them down by the bullpen at a Cubs Game.

I caught a BP home run by Ryan Ludwick last season. I was front row in the bleachers. Everyone turned away and I caught it in my gut on the fly (kinda like a punt)...I had bruises down my arm and on my stomach for about a week..but kinda worth the story.
