2010 NFL Draft

Anyone have a guess on who picks up Colt McCoy, and when?

If he's still around, my guess (and I'm by no means anywhere near the draft geeks you guys are) would be that the Steelers try and pick him up. Considering their recent situation, it'd be at least somewhat logical. They could groom him for a year under Roethlisberger, then trade Big Ben...

If The Vikings take Clausen, it should be The Browns.

Again, the Vikings are NOT taking Clausen. Favre is, and will be, Minnesota's quarterback from now until at least 2020, when he wins league MVP.

Up until today I was convinced that Tebow was a certain bust. Now all of a sudden I'm thinking he just might have landed in the perfect situation for him. That throwing motion thing is completely overrated. Just ask Bernie Kosar or Aaron Rodgers.

I agree that I think the throwing motion change is way overrated. IMO it wasn't even the real problem that was going to stop him from succeeding in the NFL. I think the problem is that he is a run first QB. He relies too much on scrambling instead of passing. I don't think that type of QB can succeed in the NFL. Scrambling is definitely a skill that can help, but it can't be your only solution when the going gets tough. If Tebow wants to succeed in the NFL, he's going to have to trust his arm more.

The Vikes know Favre will be back, They have bigger needs.

Sergio Kindle

Taylor Mays

Sean Lee

Big Bad Terrance Cody

Brian Price

All position of need and they should be there unless the Rams snag one of them

As for the Packers look OLB who can make up for the loss of Kampman to join that already young linebacking core, or they can look to see if Patrick Robinson can slip to them to address the corner need because I don't think Kindle or Mays will be around at 24 today.

He was picked up by the Saints at 32.

Taylor Mays has all the physical gifts, but in coverage he gets exposed. He is wonderful as a run-stopper as he much better as an "in the box" safety. In coverage, he can looks tight, takes poor angles and can get beat. SEA took Earl Thomas over Mays since he was a corner previously and a safety must know how to cover. Pete Carroll knew Mays has that issue. Mays is a lot like Roy Williams (Bengals).

My Iggles thoughts:

I swore they were gonna take Thomas by moving up that far, surprised the hell outta me when they picked Graham. My first thought was: really? Another D-lineman? Reid sure does love guys in the trenches, but the Eagles do have some adequate pass rushers already, and I think secondary was a much more pressing need. With Sheldon Brown gone, and the Cowgirls getting Bryant, we're pretty much screwed anytime we play them unless they address that need with their 2nd round picks.

The Donovan pick (37th) is gonna be interesting. I can't help but think no matter who they take, he's not gonna be good enough to live up to the fact that he was basically traded for McNabb. I heard the Eagles were looking at a Dexter McLuckin (no idea how to spell his name) scatback from Ole Miss. Only 170 pounds and has that catching outta the backfield ability the Eagles love so much. Now, I sure wouldn't mind having another speedy weapon on offense (we'd be loaded for years), but man our secondary is just gonna get picked apart unless they do something about it.

He comes in to the league having won just as many super bowls for the Eagles as McNabb, and having puked in at least two fewer games (one of which a super bowl), so I'd say that he's OK.

On the Tebow-Clausen debate. If Tebow sits on the bench for 2-3 years, he'll turn out to be a fine quarterback, I'm not saying Hall of Fame, Super Bowl winning QB, just a fine quarterback. The same thing for Clausen. If either one is thrown to the wolves before year 3, they'll be a bust. Studies have shown that quarterbacks that sit for 3-4 years do a lot better than those thrown to the wolves. Clausen has to go to the right team that will sit him. Tebow's in an interesting situation, becuase if Denver gets to him, they have a new coach. Now if Brady Quinn can teach Tebow what he did wrong when he first came into the league, it'll help. Let them both sit and develop.

I agree that it's usually better to sit a rookie QB, but I'd like to see the studies that show that, because I'm curious what they use as cases. I think it totally depends on the player (and of course the makeup of the team), and some are better off getting thrown right in, and some (probably most) need to sit.

Rodger Saffold from Indiana to the Rams. Vikes on the Clock.

And the Rams are back to having a disturbing number of former Indiana Hoosiers on the roster.

Failure begets failure.

Well The Bucs defensive line issues look to be just about solved. It was nice knowing you, Chris Hovan.

EDIT: And the Bucs trade up and grab Arrelious Benn from Illinois. So far, this has been a pretty good draft for the Bucs.
