My thoughts exactly.

For those who believe in the Bible, the age of accountability is twelve, so that girl, at fifteen, knew exactly what she was doing (as illwauk alluded to), knew right from wrong, knew what she was doing when she ran away...so on and so forth. That said, that leaves not a singular excuse in the world for a 53-year-old man to be--that man coulda been her granddaddy for crying out loud. And then this pimp who found her...I know this stuff goes on everywhere, but still, at some point a light bulb has to go off in a grown man's mind that this girl is entirely...too...young. Really makes me wonder if either of them have daughters. And that's really the main thing that sickens and curdles my insides about this. (Those of you who have daughters know what I mean.)

Left to me, I'd say the age should be 18 across all states. Think about this one for a second: fifteen years old...that's a high school freshman. Ain't no reason in the world no man that old needs to be messing with a girl that young. Ain't no reason for any man over the age of 21 period to be messing with a girl that young...not none at all.

I guess I've never been comfortable with the idea of the government taking it upon itself to make sure girls don't have sex at too young an age... that's what parents are for. Their role, if anything, should be to clamp down on the advertisers and media sources which peddle sexually-charged messages to teenagers (ClearChannel and Viacom... I'm looking at you).

I THINK in Minnesota, it's legal for a 16 or 17 year old with a three-year age gap, otherwise it's 18. So 15 and 16 would not be legal, but 16 and 19, 17 and 20 would.

reading this correctly, a lot of states under the age of 16 is statutory rape, period. I could be reading it wrong, but that's

the way I've always understood it that two teens having sex could be statutory rape.
