MJ's Personal Jet:

Jordan lands into Andrews AFB all the time...no idea how that gets approved. Pretty eff'd up.

I'm sure the US government is perfectly willing to let him land wherever he wants as long as he pays them.

BTW, the serial number on his jet reads N236MJ. I don't know if it's a common thing to customize your the serial numbers on your plane like a license plate, but that's freaking cool.

He still needs a PPR (Prior Permission Requirements) approval from the Wing, or Group, or at the very least the Squadron Commander....this has nothing to do with money. I can only assume some military fokes are on the plane when it arrives. It's strange.

I think it falls under one of those rarely used rules since I'm not too up to date on flying regulations. But I'd think he'd want to fly straight into Charlotte rather than Andrews. As far as customizing tail numbers, he may have requested it one and this was the closest they could get as far as personalized.

Quite common indeed all through aviation history. Here's Pan Am's first 707, N707PA:

And John Travolta's magnificent 707 in retro QANTAS colors, registered N707JT:

Well then Jordan got really luck with that tail number:

N = standard

23 = playing number majorty of career

6 = number of NBA titles

MJ = initials
