CS85
Rangers steal one with some baserunning and great defense despite getting stonewalled by Garcia. I still don't feel like Texas has true momentum, but we'll see how they do in Arlington. Quote "You are nothing more than a small cancer on this message board. mania
I still don't feel like Texas has true momentum, but we'll see how they do in Arlington.Momentum is bull . The Rangers largely did this on their baserunning and defense (save Michael Young at first, where he should not be for the next 3 games). Cujo
None of the TV guys will have the balls to do crucify him, but Albert Pujols was the reason the Rangers plated their 2nd run. He had no business trying to catch that throw to the plate. If Pujols doesn't touch it, Andrus doesn't get to 2nd base and become the winning run after 2 sac flys. But he is Albert (never cheated!!!) and will get a pass.

Lights Out
So, uh, bitter Sawx/Yankees/Phillies fans, are you excited by this Series yet? /Seriously, if I hear any more whining about "ratings" and "boring teams" when the Unholy Trifecta of Payrolls fails to make the World Series, my brain might snap. FiddySicks
I don't get the feeling that EITHER team has momentum at this point. If these first two games show anything, it's that they're both really evenly matched. I see this being a 7 gamer and the best series since 1997. Lights Out
Momentum is bull .Not at all. I know it upsets you that you can't quantify it with statistics, but it's very real.Actually, we're close to quantifying it, at least in a one-game situation... there's already win probability (which measures a team's chances of winning during different points in a game) and leverage (which measures how important a situation is for a pitcher at any particular point in the game). Presumably, a team with momentum's win probability would rise precipitously throughout the game, while the opposing pitcher's leverage falls quickly as the game becomes further out of reach. It's not direct, but they're the closest stats we have. POTD: 2/4/12 3/4/

Albert's slip will probably go unmentioned form here on out.

Which is obviously a massive upgrade. Quote "You are nothing more than a small cancer on this message board. Sure, Kim's blown saves kept it a series, but it still saw three walk-off wins, including two in extra innings, and of course a blown save in game 7 against the best closer of all time. You can't beat that drama.
