Rangers steal one with some baserunning and great defense despite getting stonewalled by Garcia. I still don't feel like Texas has true momentum, but we'll see how they do in Arlington.

None of the TV guys will have the balls to do crucify him, but Albert Pujols was the reason the Rangers plated their 2nd run. He had no business trying to catch that throw to the plate. If Pujols doesn't touch it, Andrus doesn't get to 2nd base and become the winning run after 2 sac flys. But he is Albert (never cheated!!!) and will get a pass.

McCarver "crucified" him, but he's an idiot.

And your avatar is going to cause seizures.

I don't get the feeling that EITHER team has momentum at this point. If these first two games show anything, it's that they're both really evenly matched. I see this being a 7 gamer and the best series since 1997.

2001 says hello.

You make a decent argument and I thought about that, but if it weren't for Byung-Hyun Kim being such a giant piece of doo doo, that series would've been over pretty quick.

Momentum is bull :censored:.

Not at all. I know it upsets you that you can't quantify it with statistics, but it's very real.

Actually, we're close to quantifying it, at least in a one-game situation... there's already win probability (which measures a team's chances of winning during different points in a game) and leverage (which measures how important a situation is for a pitcher at any particular point in the game). Presumably, a team with momentum's win probability would rise precipitously throughout the game, while the opposing pitcher's leverage falls quickly as the game becomes further out of reach. It's not direct, but they're the closest stats we have.

He called him out on it, but didn't lambast as he would've had he NOT been Pujols.

Usually, when the average or unknown player (or Steve Bartman!!) fvcks up and costs his team a big game, it's the top story for a good day or two. Albert's slip will probably go unmentioned form here on out.

Joe Buck and Tim McCarver are basically Cardinal cheerleaders, anyway.

I've been watching the games with a muted TV. Much more enjoyable this way....

Yes they are, which sickens me, also any time Buck is on commentary I usually set my system's language to spanish, that way I usually get field ambience. Which is obviously a massive upgrade.

True, but any series could be drastically different if a few things happened differently. Sure, Kim's blown saves kept it a series, but it still saw three walk-off wins, including two in extra innings, and of course a blown save in game 7 against the best closer of all time. You can't beat that drama.

That's cool. I just thought Colby Lewis matched Garcia pretty closely. Actually I think the teams in general look pretty equal. Go Rangers!
