So I realized something pretty cool today. This is the third straight year where a Molina brother has been in the World Series.

I did not hit baseball-reference until after game 1 began but:

TEX batted just .211 in the ALDS and .286 in the ALCS. Boomstick's extra inning success make them look better.

STL batted .259 in the NLDS and in the .310 NLCS.

LaRussa only has to "out-manage" Washington in 2.5 out of 4 games. Washington will lose one and the other .5 of a game will be random anyway.

The Rangers batting the kid who hadn't had an at-bat all postseason with 2 on and 2 out basically sealed the deal. That was a dumb move. I see the logic, but that's high stakes gambling.

Baseball needs expanded instant replay. "The Human Element" should absolutely not come at the expense of getting the call right.

I agree, but instant replay would not have helped in this situation. Since the call on the field was that the ball did not hit Beltre's foot, they would have needed indisputable video evidence that it hit his foot. From the multiple angles that FOX showed, it was extremely difficult to determine whether or not it hit his foot.

That's baseball for ya.

He hit the ball straight down. Unless it ricocheted off something (like... HIS FOOT), there's no way it makes it down to third.

Instant replay is used to try to prove something using visual evidence. It sounds like you are trying to justify Beltre getting hit by using logic, something an umpire usually doesn't have in the heat of the moment in a World Series game. :P

Esteban German. That choice made the .5 game that LaRussa had to "outmanage" Washington. German was in a position to fail more often than most MLB batters, even . He only had 11 ABs in the regular season. RISP the Cardinals have much better batters than TEX. I hate to say that, but STL is better with men who can score on a hit.

However, Ron Washington still has positive comments post game.

All Ron Washington needs to do is MANAGE HIS TEAM. Instead he's out there trying to "out-luck" goddamn Tony LaRussa -- something that has been proven to be virtually impossible.

I also felt it was a poor decision to pitch to Berkman in the 4th. First base was open and while yeah, Freese is hot (derp) and there was nobody out, I would've walked them full and hope Freese bats conservatively to scrape the run in. That's just my opinion, obviously, and with as many walks as Wilson was dancing around I could see where this would be a terrible decision, but with 2nd and 3rd full, I'd throw caution to the wind and fill the bags if it afforded a chance of getting out of the inning with only 1 run scored.
