Guys, let's get it right. The Cowboys are wearing fauxbacks, not throwbacks. The uniforms these are based off of were royal blue.

Wow, I had never really thought to look, but you're right:

Truth be told, I think they actually look better in royal.

The opinions I express are mine, and mine only. If I am to express them, it is not to say you or anyone else is wrong, and certainly not to say that I am right.

Lions wear their 50's throwbacks against the Packers who may wear their Acme Packer gear (.... to some, sorry.)

Cowboys wear their 60's throwback(ish) uniforms against the Dolphins, who'll come in with their 17-0 season unis.

That's what I'm thinkin'.

A blue vs. blue matchup has a 0% chance of happening.

Also, highly doubt your Cowboys/Dolphins prediction.

1 outta 4, at least...

Cowboys look stupid no mater what uniform you put on them!

Actually, they look like WINNERS. :P

Notice when I said what the Boys would wear their throwbacks, I said throwback-ish.

Of course they were royal and not navy back then, but I'd take todays double-star over the genuine 1960's get ups.

They should bring back the mandatory throwback rule, gave us the ability to appreciate something else other than the game on christmas and see something we haven't seen in a while.

What about Thanksgiving? :)

Haha I meant Thanksgiving, and was thinking of Christmas.

I would prefer that 16 weeks of the season, teams wear their regular gear for all games and make Thanksgiving week(end) the official Throwback/Alternate weekend. With all the different looks teams have now, it doesn't feel as special when they do breakout something different.

Same here. I like the uniforms the Cowboys wore today but I also think how good they look depends greatly on who they're playing. They just didn't look as good against the Dolphins as they usually do. Maybe it's just me.

The Cowboys should base a new set off of these throwbacks with Silver and Royal. With just a few tweaks to what they're wearing now, they'd be one of the best looking teams in the league.

Unfortunately, because of tradition, we're gonna be stuck with the navy royal sliver seafoam green mishmash s**t they have now for a long time.

But I'd be all for the Packers reintroducing the 1994 (1936) throwbacks for thanksgiving, only with matching pants and jerseys that use the Titans template (opposed to the one they used in 1994, which is closer to what the Cowboys use on their current throwbacks). I know they have to wait a few years to replace the "Powerball" jerseys, but I think it would be a fitting tribute to ol' Curly for the team to reintroduce the classic Lambeau-era look as a permanent alternate.

1946, not 1936. '36 was green and gold.

What specifically were you thinking for pants? Plain gold would be historically accurate.

But I agree - Curly's classic would make an excellent alt.

The throwbacks in 94 had athletic yellow helmets (just the normal helmets with the decals removed), but had khaki pants. I imagine the pants they wore in 46 were khaki and not yellow.

Nope - in 1946, the Packers wore athletic gold pants (they started moving away from canvas-colored pants in 1932). But the '46 pants were often made out of different types of materials, some of which looked a bit tannish.

I'm guessing that's where the khaki came from for the '94 throwbacks. That or bad color reproduction. Back then uniform research just wasn't was what it is now.

This. I'd want to see a permanent Packers alt based on this look (with concessions made for modern equipment, of course).

That said, I also wouldn't mind if they used the same gold for the Lambeau throwbacks that LSU used for theirs a couple years ago.

This could be considered a "happy medium" between the Packers' usual gold and the khaki that (as you said) came from some of the materials used back then and could really drive home the "old school" nature of the Lambeau era look. Also, IIRC (but I'm sure you'll confirm or correct me either way :P), the Packers did wear that shade of gold (or something pretty close to it) at some point in their history, so it's not like it would be completely random for them to wear it.

was it snow or sleet? Or both? Seems like I remember it being sleet.

Here are some photos from today's Sun-Sentinel from the Dallas-Miami snow game in '93

What's odd is, if you look at the shoulder numbers on Terry Kirby and Pete Stoyanovich, they're spaced really far apart. I guess when teams used to heat press the numbers on, there were a lot of inconsistencies.

No it was definitely a light snow.

Those were such good looking Dolphin uniforms. I can't understand why people think their current set with navy trim is better. These were clean and amazing.

It all comes down to the logo, I think. Whatever your thoughts are regarding the navy, the logo that came with it is a clear improvement over the logos that came before it. It's not just a matter of the new logo being more "aggressive" either. The current logo, the one introduced with the navy, is just cleaner.

I can see that a little bit. Maybe use the current logo BUT use a darker shade of teal/aqua instead of a completely foreign navy blue. Then keep the unis as seen in the photo. Would give it some nice dimension but not a full on outline, etc.

I think that's the best option. The current logo, minus the navy, with the older uniforms. The Dolphins would look pretty sharp.

As opposed to the muddled look they have now.
