HedleyLamarr
Everything is going San Fran's way so far.Luckily for Detroit, this is only Game 1.... and there are still 5 innings to go....You have to believe San Francisco's good fortune is going to run out quickly. It's been out in full force over the last 4 games.EDIT: I guess not yet.Looks eerily smiliar to the 1996 Braves.Down 3-1 in the NLCS (to the Cardinals, no less), and winning the last three games by a combined score of like 32-1, including winning Game 7 15-0. Then, in the first two games of the World Series, beating the Yankees 12-1 and 4-0 (and Andruw Jones homering twice in Game 1).So maybe the Giants win the first two games, then the Tigers win Games 3-6 to win the World Series..... GFB
Valverde did the closer's "walk of shame", but did that dugout shot have him in tears???It's OK to do your thing when you make a save, but when your tank is empty, you cry???Bam. Plus, he has an uncomfortable face with weird eyes. Glad I don't have to look at that anymore.
Cujo
God I love the San Francisco Giants......and the St. Louis Cardinals. And the Oakland Athletics. Not that I should speak, as I'm on the Giants bandwagon for yet another October.
crashcarson15
I have no problem with the Giants not re-instating Melky to their roster.I have a problem with them not including his name on any licensed team gear such as their division champions shirts and (likely) their NL champions shirts. Fact of the matter is, Melky Cabrera played over 100 games for the Giants this season, and it's asinine for them to act like he didn't. The fact that he was never considered for re-activation on the NLCS and World Series rosters is more than enough punishment from the Giants POV. Not including his name anywhere on team gear is akin to the NCAA's long-standing love for vacating wins from programs - it's an insult to the intelligence of us by insinuating that he has was never actually there. He was, and should be noted accordingly. He was not on the roster for the National League Championship Series, thus, he should not be on the National League Championship Series roster that is placed on t-shirts. It would be factually incorrect.

infrared41
Of all the things I might have guessed would happen tonight, Barry Zito out pitching Justin Verlander wasn't any of them. It's only game one, but getting a win against Verlander when you're starting Barry Zito is a pretty nice bonus for the Giants. Now the Giants need to take advantage of it and get game two tomorrow. If they end up splitting the first two, tonight basically becomes a wash. The Gigantes really need to capitalize on this.

Was just talking about it, and compared Zito's win over Verlander to a team beating Tom Brady and the Patriots with their third-string quarterback.I certianly didn't see this Game 1 result coming -- but will admit, I am quite pleased with it. The_Admiral
It was so nice to watch a game as a fan of the sport and not care who wins. I can't remember the last time I've taken in a ballgame with this level of inner peace. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

Cujo
Pretty dull game up to this point. The Giants just pushed across the only run of the game on a bases loaded, double play ball. *yawn*
STL FANATIC
I'm not watching, but can't avoid it on Twitter. I certainly don't begrudge a lucky/magical team. The Cardinals had more than their share all of last October and the start of this October. But it's pretty clear the Giants have taken it all right now. Very little, if anything, has gone against them since game two of their NLDS. Crazy. But that's what makes October fun.If you're on that side. Or at least not on the other side. FiddySicks
Still gotta lot of work to do, but this is a great spot to be in right now. For all the talk of how much better the Tigers starting pitching was than the Giants, it sure hasn't been a factor so far. Now on to the Motor City!!!
