Sharks fans remind me of Cubs fans w/r/t drafting and development. They sit there weeping about how they're so cursed and doomed to fail, but when anyone suggests that perhaps maybe this curse has something to do with how the team is operated, and perhaps it might be advantageous to build a real organization and not a top-heavy house of cards that can't do more than beat up on bad teams, they get indignant and say excuse me but that's not the way we do it here. Maybe it should be? I mean, beyond this parallel, in the grand scheme of things, the Sharks are not the Chicago Cubs. I get why the Cubs kept half-assedly Going For It because of the pressure. Is it as if one really bad Sharks season will kill the team forever?

Actually, I couldn't agree with you more. It's one thing to have a season where you have to sacrifice some future success for present success, but when that stretches out for nearly a decade and you still don't win s**t, something has got to give.

They could get an embarrassment of riches for Joe Pavelski this summer or even next. Then, get what you can get for the old guys and you'll be stocked up in no time. Of course, the resulting team will only win 15 games, but hey, growing pains, and it's time for someone to get out of the Oilers' way, really.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

What about when it stretches to a century?

Good old, Bob. Falling off the barstool again.

Look for Toronto to be at the front of the line. Schultz has expressed interest to play there with his college buddy and former Ducks top defensive prospect, Jake Gardiner. And Schultz won't be getting a huge pay day. The max anyone can pay him is still whatever the max entry level contract is. So basically anyone can sign him, and he has his free choice of wherever he wants to go, which looks to be Toronto like I said. Ducks are just a Toronto feeder system at this point. (Burke you scum. Murray you freaking dolt.)

If Murray had just resigned Beauchemin the first time and not traded Gardiner, the Ducks would be looking at a defensive corps of Visnovsky, Beauchemin, Fowler, Gardiner, Schultz... THAT is a stellar and mostly young blueline. The Ducks would be set for a long time on the backend. But no. They're not, because Bob Murray sucks.

Minor news/I don't know if it's been covered here yet, but the RBC Center (Carolina) has been renamed PNC Arena.

the worst helmets design to me is the Jacksonville jaguars hamlets from 1995 to 2012 because you can't see the logo vary wall

Looks like the Tampa Bay Lightning is switching AHL affiliations from the Calder Cup champion Norfolk Admirals to the Syracuse Crunch. This also marks the Anaheim Ducks' exit from Syracuse, and the only open dance partner right now is Norfolk. Are there any other expiring affiliation agreements or possible affiliation changes out there? Or is this most likely going to be a simple swap for the Lightning/Ducks of the Admirals/Crunch?

I don't mind the affiliation change. Distance-wise, the Ducks are always screwed as it is when it comes to these cross-country affiliations just like the other Western teams. The best they ever had distance-wise was Iowa, and that sucked organizationally. The only thing I wish they had was more consistency with these affiliations. The other California teams, LA/San Jose, have been in Manchester/Worchester for the longest time and have great agreements with them, but the Ducks have bounced around recently from Portland to Iowa to Syracuse to now possibly Norfolk. But the Admirals are a championship organization, and that wouldn't be a bad thing to have an association with. As long as the prospects get developed properly and get to Anaheim in a timely fashion, I guess I don't truly care where the affiliate is.

What happened to the talk of setting up 7 or so team western conference in the AHL? It seemed like a good idea and would be more accommodating to the teams on the west coast.

1. What West Coast? It's Abbotsford and then the Texas 3 and OKC.

2. There are never enough AHL franchises on the market to make the move in numbers that a financially viable. The Heat only survive because Abbotsford has been pulling a "Glendale Lite" for their entire existence.
