The name SuperSonics has a certain futuristic flair to it that was undercut by the adoption of a faux-old time basketball logo and wordmark.Ehhh... I wouldn't describe that wordmark as old-timey. It's very '70s due to its inline design, which was fitting for the Sonics, as the pinnacle of their success was in the '70s. Thing is, I'm not convinced that's what they did. Inline letting isn't inherently retro futuristic. This is '70s retro futuristic. This looks like it belongs on the label of Seattle-based condiment company that was going for an old timey feel. A feeling that I feel was emphasized by the "est. 1967" text. It was trying way to hard to be vintage. Not retro futuristic, but vintage. Like that double blue Florida Panthers sweater. My ideal Seattle SuperSonics logo would combine the S/ball logo and the jet circling the basketball image from the team's first (and in my opinion best) mark. Blue/black/silver (even yellow) is the perfect "storm" colour scheme. Blue alone doesn't remind me at all of a lightning storm and is a horrible reflection of the team name. To me, an overhaul is dumping all scripts/logos or a color scheme, or a change as drastic as that. For example, let's go to this past off-season as an example. Toronto Blue Jays changes? Overhaul.
