2013 NBA Offseason Happenings

I think this will be the first time the Heat will have a legitimate chance of losing before the conference finals. The Bulls finished first in the conference both years that Rose was healthy during the Big 3 era so it's definitely possible that they (or the Pacers) do it again. However it shakes out, Miami won't just have the easy path to the conference finals that they've been used to.

The Nets will be the biggest obsticle for a Heat three peat. You heard it here first. If they stay healthy the Brooklyn Nets will win the East next year.

Maybe if Dwight signs with them...and somehow they also get Chris Paul...and Jason Kidd does wonders in year one...maybe...um...ummm...

...nah, Nets have no shot.

Yeah, there's that.

But LeBron, especially in the Miami-era, has been the hardest player to put-away in the playoffs. In career elimination games where a loss meant the end of a season for him, James has averaged 32 PPG (including a monstrous 35 PPG in Game 7's) and a 47% FG% (including a 50% FG% in game-tying or winning shots within the last minute of both the 4th quarter and overtime).

Add the fact that Miami still has the rebounding specialties of Bosh, the stainless steel blade shooting of Allen and Chalmers, the long arms of Bosh and Andersen for blocking, and the resolve of Wade (despite all the injuries piling up on him), the Heat have the best shot of being the 1st team since the mid-1980s Celtics to appear in 4-straight NBA Finals.

And I hate this.

The East is pretty much Miami's to win for me unless proven otherwise.

The Nets are ECF candidates but they are not beating Miami. On the other hand they are the best team in NYC so they can always ride that wave unless the Knicks pull something out of the hat.

Also, D12 is set to visit Golden State (!), Houston, Dallas, Hawks, and the Lakers. Gotta say, Golden State is kinda out of left field, but SUPER intriguing to me. Curry, Lee, Thompson, Barnes, Bogut, AND Howard?

Yikes.

Sigs are for sissies.

I'm surprised nobody is talking about what an absolute sideshow this Nets team will be. They look good on paper, sure. But you have Kidd coaching and two has beens clogging up the pro shop. Not to mention they couldn't get a long with Rondo but they'll groove well with Williams? Stop it. This team will be barely above .500 in 2013/14.

I was immediately negative on the trade, and will continue to be until proved wrong. This reminds me of the early Dan Snyder Redskins, when they packed the team with a a bunch of past-their-prime guys like Andre Reed, Bruce Smith, and Deion Sanders. Yeah, they were once awesome players, but not then and not as good as the rest of the league.

Same deal with the Nets. The 08 Celtics worked because the three guys came together either right at or right after their primes, when individual stats didn't mean as much. The 11 and 12 Heat had the very best player in a generation combined with two first- or second-team talents. These Nets? They have a PG who should be great but is inconsistent, a coach who has never coached, and two new guys whose best days are far behind them. I'd like to see it work because it'd be interesting if it does, but I definitely have my doubts.

Kidd coaching fits right in with the Brooklyn Nets' "style before substance" method of team management.

Don't forget Mr. Clutch! 6 points in Game 7......robble robble!

Two teams have a legitimate shot at beating Miami in 2013-14:

San Antonio and Oklahoma City. Pacers lack bench talent, as with Brooklyn and both LA squads.

You're forgetting the Bulls...
