People seem excited about Silver, but I have no idea why. All we see him do is run the Draft Lottery. Is he just expected to be better just on the basis of not being Stern?

I don't know, but it seems to me (and this is just my gut) that he's been "Stern's guy" for a while. I kinda wish that Stern's departure would lead to someone bran new.

Disclaimer: If this comment is about an NBA uniform from 2017-2018 or later, do not constitute a lack of acknowledgement of the corporate logo to mean anything other than "the corporate logo is terrible and makes the uniform significantly worse."

Yeah that would certainly make this change easier to digest.

The roller coaster ride continues. According to reports Doc Rivers is no longer interested in the Clippers job and has gone home to Orlando. The reports say Boston had grown tired of the Clippers "starvation" tactics in hopes of driving down Boston's asking price for Doc. Clippers felt they had all the leverage was clearly flexing its muscles.

Now I know there are other options, cheaper options but if you are LAC how do you not just get that deal done? It's like they forgot they are the Clippers, NBA laughing stock, after one good year. If they want to act like a ball club with a winning culture they needed Rivers, a coach that will no doubt bring that culture.

I don't even know what to believe about this trade anymore. All the Boston sources are saying the deal's off and that Doc's not interested, but the LA media is claiming it's still on, Boston's still interested, and the compensation could end up being the Clippers' 2015 first-rounder. At this point, I'm sick of the bluffing and haggling from all sides. It's ridiculous that this simple deal can't be done already.

The Clippers already had a coach who lost in the first round. Why would they want a different one?

Silver may be a one contract commissioner regardless. There is a bigger NBA fan who is of the same age of Silver, which the players may ask for and lobby for come 2017-8.

Thank god this deal finally happened so we don't have to hear any "will it, wont it" any more.

So I take it Garnett stays in Boston?

For now. Stern put the kabosh on that until it could be determined (re: whatever) that one trade didn't have to do with the other. [/NBA]

Done deal. Doc to LA for a future 1st, then he gets 3/$21M to replace the amount he's leaving behind in Boston. Press conference tomorrow at noon

Finally! Welcome to LA Doc!

I have a dollar on BOS & LAC stopping and starting the trade for Garnett 27 times before it gets done. Who wants that action? Lol

Exactly. Some people need to stop acting like Doc will magically turn this team into a championship contender. Aside from Griffin and Paul, they have nothing. Some aging veterans on the downside of their careers and very overrated role players like Jordan and Bledsoe.

Prior to the Garnett/Allen/Pierce run, the knock on Doc Rivers was that he couldn't manage a game and he lucked into wins. He happened to get three great players at or near their primes and ride them to two Finals appearances and a championship. That's pretty good, but it's also not that different than, say, Larry Brown or Rick Carlisle. They both won championships with streaky teams, but had a fat lot of nothing to show for their careers otherwise.

Obama should become NHL commish. He probably knows more about hockey then the current commissioner(Which isn't saying a lot)
